I would like to see a secound party, do six pulls three with and three without and see the data. I have run after markets on tuned 5.0 and 2.7, I couldn’t tell any difference other than the air noise. Miine is a tuned Raptor, shifting is better the 55 horse, not a big feel difference. If your looking for the noise great! If you want to up your powere wait and spend the money when the tuens come out.

Is the top really open or does the hood somehow “seal” it. Anyone know how to order w the dry filter? Seems like the normal order comes with an oiled filter which I don’t want. Asked K&N and they haven’t responded. Anyone know the part number for the compatible dry filter?

Stock one is definitely oiled unless you somehow ordered it with a different filter (which I’m trying to do).

Is the thought that the increased air volume makes up for the lower density of the hotter air? Wonder how that math works.

Anyone who can post the part number for the dry filter?

Can someone explain how this is considered a "CAI" if the top is open and it's just pulling heat soaked air from under the hood?

It’s like a hybrid setup, so it’s open at the top and one of the sides and it’s also got a snorkel that feeds in air from the hood area. I think the open area is more for sound than anything else.

Have to imagine it’s drawing more hot air through the top than cold air through the snorkel.

Can the filter be changed through the top without disassembling a bunch of stuff?

Yes, fluids follow the path of least resistance, just like electrical current. Some cool air might be coming in the front snorkel, but the engine is surely sucking most of the intake from under the hood hot air in this setup.

ok, so opened the box- it’s an oiled. i think i was focused on the sb that had a dry.
but jesus this thing has a lot of parts. filter is giant.

so do i actually have to unplug the negative putting this on? i’ve never unplugged the battery doing an intake ever.

when i unplug the negative terminal, what else resets? what do i have to reset?

other thing- the thread in aluminum qc fitting- it’s a dead end, like it should be drilled out? (on the intake tube)

K&N confirmed they do not offer a dry filter replacement.

I have a question to put out there for any peeps that have installed the K&n CAI and the ford performance calibration. I have done both and i get a Check engine light for PCV Hose A disconnect (Code P2C90). This code comes and goes After I reset it could be two to three weeks, and it comes back doesn't matter how driven. Has anybody run into this problem and have a solution. I am working with K&N and Ford performance, and both are scratching their collective heads. have replace the CAI completely 1 time at K&N Expense and still no joy.
