Hello. I recently bought a 2025 Ranger Sport with cash (my 6th Ford truck) and the dealer for some reason they can't explain removed the key fob labels with the security code for cutting a replacement key if ever needed. They were there with the fobs in a plastic bag when the truck first arrived. Why would a dealer think to remove the tags? (unless they burglarize vehicles as a side job). I bought the truck, I own the truck. The security code belongs to me, not them, and now it's gone. This never happened with my other trucks. Has this happened to any of you?

I would make them rekey the truck with 2 new fobs.

I wouldn't be worried about them taking the key code from a theft perspective, anyone in their service or parts department can look up that code with the VIN, they don't need that little label to get it. I provide key codes to customers and locksmiths all the time (after seeing proof of ownership of course). If you want the code to have in case you need a key cut after having lost all of yours, they should be able to look it up and write it down for you in about three seconds. Some clueless salesman probably just thought they were garbage or unneeded and threw them in the trash while putting keychains on.
