It was -24C here last week. One day, the door would not unlock when I grabbed the handle. I tried several times deliberately. I tapped the sensor on the front of the handle and the door would lock/lights would flash. Tried again to unlock, and nothing.
Once I unlocked with the fob, I tried the handle again and it worked.
-24C , you are one tough dude. I would not get out of bed. I live in Florida and can barely handle it when it dips into the 40’s F.

Ha, that’s nothing! In Feb, we usually get a week or more at -40C. Fun fact, -40C and -40F are the same ?
It’s fun to have to calculate your walking distance based on how fast exposed skin freezes in temps like that. But, at least it’s a dry cold ?

I am the OP and intelligent access is keyless entry but it doesn't mean keypad. Pretty clear from multiple descriptions of the issue

However, in colder climates that sustain severe freezing temps, grease solidifies on the locking and unlocking mechanism and causes this problem.

This has happened on many vehicles and reported regularly; with the “wrong grease” applied and the vehicle is left out in the freezing ambient conditions overnight the lock mechanism won’t function.

There are different greases used for different climates. Wrong grease applied, it will literally solidify.

Otherwise, the lights will come on and you’ll hear an audible mechanical function but the door won’t unlock.??
In this instance it doesn't even attempt to unlock but as 3 of us described unlocks just fine with the key fob.

Cold temps prevent the intelligent sensors from reading touch clearly.

Did the lights flash on? Thought someone said they did several posts back. If that’s the case, then it’s not the handle sensor.??

And your title says something different which can mean either; keyless entry pad, keyless entry fob or keyless touch sensor. If you want to get down to semantics all three are described as ; Keyless Entry.

However, the response and contention is redundant………moot.??

Had the issue again this evening. Not nearly as cold, only -6C. Hand inside the handle, nothing - no lights flashing, no sound like anything is trying. Tap the sensor to lock the doors, and the lights flash, doors re-lock.
Unlock with the button on the remote, and now the door is back to working as it should.
I did not try the passenger side.

Now that I type this out, I think this might be the issue. If the truck detects a “hand” on the inside of the handle but no key on that side, it prevents the doors from being unlocked using the handle on the other side.
Tonight, the truck was covered in road grime/melted snow. The last time, there was frost all over the handles.

Same issue with my ‘24 Ranger Raptor. Called dealer service and they are going to do some research and get back to me with an answer or to make an appointment for service and see what they can figure out.

I lived in BC for a couple years back in the 90s. One night first winter there, I left the pub to drive home, 6 miles up the mountain. Truck died. (Fuel pump.). I got turned around and coasted back down the mountain and into the parking lot at the pub. Decided to just walk home. Huge mistake. I did not realize how cold it really was. I got about a mile and decided to turn back, my feet were freezing and I shivering pretty bad. An RCMP came by, turned around and picked me up, and took me home! He explained that I could have actually died! Gotta love those guys, every interaction I ever had with them they were awesome. I kept emergency warm gear and blankets and stuff in my rig after that. Still do!
