I have a 2020 Ranger XLT Sport 4x4 with 125,000 miles that I bought new in February 2021. I am having misfire on #3 cylinder with a rough idle and my scanner shows P0303 and P0316 codes. I have changed the spark plugs, ignition coils, DPFE sensor, high pressure fuel pump and the tappet. I have swapped coils around to see if it is a bad coil. Code stays on #3 cylinder. Changed the spark plug out on #3 and checked insulator on spark plug. No change. Unplugged the harness from the coil on #3 no change in idle. I unplugged one at a time #1, 2 and 4 coils are idle would get worse. But unplugging #3 it stays the same. I checked voltage from the harness plug with the key on it read 14 volts. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

You might have more luck over at www.ranger5g.com as this forum is for the 6th gen ranger (2022 onwards) and there may not be a lot of users with experience with the 5th gen ranger here?

Your intake valves are probably full of carbon. Common problem with that mileage. Have it scoped and it will probably need to be cleaned.

My misfire would be unrelated to what's going on with yours as my engine is brand new with a brand new truck. 600 MI. Mine is related to a defective CO2 sensor. I brought it in yesterday to the dealership to find out. Waiting for more information, that's just preliminary. Thank goodness for warranties. I would hate to have to Shell out money for that. At one time I would have done it myself. But, getting old and full of arthritis it is no longer an option. Still, good to keep an ear open for the way that it should sound versus the way that it is sounding and running. An engine that misfires back in the '70s is no different than one that misfires today. Could be different reasons and causes, it's still bad for the engine and can create issues. The same with being sluggish or too rich or too lean, Etc. Got to fix it.

Take a compression check on that cylinder and go from there. There might also be an injector problem.
