Motor Trend has been around since about 1949 and has been covering the auto industry since it first published. You may not like this review, and there seems to be some good reasons why the review was poorly done. But with almost 90 years of covering automobiles it is pretty hard to to be ranting about the periodicals name.
Just because they been around for 90 years does not make them wright. Anyone who has lived with this truck knows better. That is why TFL's review of the Ranger Raptor more valid theylive with the trucks much longer since they buy them with thier own money. The bandwidth of this truck is just to good to judge in short drives. All the modes, shock adjustments, exhaust adjustments and suspension adjustments make this ride next level. Yeah it not a one setting vehicle, it has many personality for which ever mood your in none of the other Midsize trucks can do that.

I certainly prefer this E-Shifter to the dial used in other Ford's, however, its kind of silly how it operates. The BMW design where you push forward for Reverse and pull backwards for Drive is much easier to use.

The entire chassis was oscillating so bad that you had virtually no control over the vehicle. This was at ~20-40mph over smaller washboard on a well maintained, but heavily traveled gravel road. Factory spec tire pressure at 39psi cold, probably would have been better at lower pressures, but IMO this truck should be able to handle things like that. To me it seems like this truck is over sprung for its intended offroad use. Like I said, we also had my friend's Subaru Forester on the same road at the same speeds and it maintained much better tire contact.
Totally disagree on the BMW shifter. We have a 2024 X5 5Oe and it is not intuitive. The Park button is even less obvious. I don’t drive it everyday so my wife may be used to it by now.

Their thoughts on the shifter are the only thing that's consistent with other reviews. NOBODY is saying the RRaptor doesn't perform well off-road, or even that it doesn't perform as well as the competitors. I'm not some fan-boy that thinks you have to give a good review of the car I like, I just think your review should be in good faith.

If they complained about no air vents in the rear, or the lack of ventilated seats and HUD, those are fair criticisms. It's also a fair criticism to say that the ZR2 is better at rock-crawling because it has a better approach angle, but to act like it's not a Raptor off-road is insane, and when you're literally the only review in the entire world (yes, I've seen reviews from UK, AU, Phillippines, South America, etc.) saying it doesn't perform well off-road, then your publication can't be taken seriously.
Abssolutely agree! I’ve read a lot of the reviews and Motor Trend is out of step with what folks are saying. It’s not perfect but the price, although expensive, is actually a value leader compared to the competition.

Ranger is the Best mid-sized truck avaiable today. I've owned the current Frontier (late 2022), Previous Gen Tacoma (2019), and the others either aren't real Trucks- Santa Cruz, Ridgeline, or are crazy like the Galdiator with it's tiny bed and solid front axel. Hands down, this is the best Truck. Ford knows how to build a truck.
