Yea my wife and daughters wanted to see the wild horses, they saw and took pictures of the horses and I was happy driving on the beach.

A good friend was killed riding in the bed of a pickup at Daytona Beach many years ago. He was sitting on the rail near the back corner, the truck hit a rut and he flipped over backwards, completely snapping his neck. Please be aware that posting a pic of anybody sitting on the rail, even in a stationary pose, gives the impression that it is acceptable to be there while in motion. The camp chairs - no problem as long as the passengers don’t move around when you are moving.

Did you air down and do you carry any recovery gear? It looks like there were plenty of other vehicles around that could help.

You have to air down there, it carries a fine if you get stuck and haven’t. We were there in the summer of 2021. Beautiful place

No I did not air down, the NC state police were on the beach and saw us and did not stop me. There were a lot of 4×4 trucks but we were the only Ranger.

i would have never known to air down if its not on a sign telling you to. living on the beach here, we never air down. to me, thats something you do on a 4x4 trail. i wouldn't think you would have to air down if you are in a 4x4, either on a beach.

i never had 4wd vehicles until after i got out of the army in 98. prior to that i had an f150 2wd and a 65 mustang i would drive down the beach to the surf spots. if you didn't know how to drive on the beach though, for sure i could see needing a 4x4 to not get stuck

It is correct to air down, but no excuses no on one was airing down or up.

Minimum charge is maybe $3000 to get towed out of the water, that is not like just yanking somebody out who has sunk frame deep in the sand due to high tire pressure.

"Hey, you can't park there!" (It's a rental):

Idiots on the Outer Banks video

If the tide is coming in, just stay off the beach, eh? I actually love driving in deep soft sand, just not in @#$%^&* salt water.....

if that happens, you might as well go trade it in as soon as you get it dried out.

Don't be hating, we had a great time on the beach with our Ranger. All went well.

I am glad we left Outer Banks when we did on Saturday, the storms are coming in and they are evacuating the barrier islands. I hope all are safe.
