I know that feeling. When I first started out we used hammocks and the dog slept in the back of the 2 door jeep.
More bodies more crap

Im seriously interested in the topper just cause the price makes it an option where a 3 or 4 K generic leer type fiber glass I cant justify. As it is the most that goes in my bed is golf clubs. Anything bigger I hook up one of my 4 trailers.

Ive done "over landing" since I was kid and we called it car camping.
And Ive tried the tent on the vehicle multiple times. Never works out and Im always back to the trailer. Base camping works better for my style.

I am glad I found this thread. I've emailing these guys trying to see if they maybe assembled in the US. The packing 1-4 is hows it shipped. Pieces and parts. Just a warning if you can go through another company besides alibaba do it. I had a bad experience with them, they sell watches too.

Still waiting on the actual weight of the aluminum Bahrenpoint canopy. Too new... But, they will sell just one, so that's good to know.

Note: I'm still in talks with Wildtop about my rack. They want to send me 6 (up from 4) new clamps and rubber feet. I'm still not sure this is adequate for a Raptor driven like a Raptor (sans jumps). Carrying speed and some heavy braking on a 2/10 trail should not cause your clamps to bend.
