Howdy everyone!

New member, recently approved. Member of Maverick Truck Club forum since November of 2021. Love my 2022 Maverick and recently ordered a 2024 Maverick with AWD and the 4K tow package to accommodate needs that weren't anticipated when ordering way back when, but recently changed course and decided that I'd like a truck upgrade in general and have recently placed an order for a 2024 Ranger XL in place of the upgraded Maverick. (I like my vehicles bare bones and drove manual transmissions/LX models of Hondas since 1998 before getting the Maverick and having the dial shifter.)

Does anyone have any info on how long the build for the 2024 Ranger should take or, much like the Maverick, is it a "hurry up and wait" situation?

Looking forward to everyone's adventures!

It is indeed hurry up and wait. But lucky for you, you weren't after a raptor. And it looks like production is ramping up.

There's at least several months of backlog for Ford to work through, but who knows, that "barebones" order might skip ahead of some who ordered higher trim with options.

Welcome, and good luck!

WISH I could afford a Raptor, but that's beyond my pay grade. The Maverick is great as a Lowes/Home Depot runner and for those who need to do light hauling. My error was ordering the Maverick minus the AWD and 4K tow package because I didn't anticipate hauling a cargo trailer to camp in. While it pulls just fine (2K tow capacity presently pulling 1500-1600 all inclusive) I worry about the possibility of too much stress on the transmission and engine, hence my desire to upgrade to the Ranger.

I'm good with the backlog. Most of the Maverick forum (which I call Mavericks Anonymous) is all the people who ordered in 2021 waiting for the 2022 models commiserating over wait times. Time is on my side in this instance.

Thanks for the welcome!

I’d think that you should be able to find a dealer with an allocation for the XL, fairly easy.
My little dealer here in Louisiana has an open allocation for a XLT. So I’m assuming finding what you’re looking for shouldn’t be that hard. In fact last night I was watching Tim from long Mcaurther ford and he said if someone put in an order this week that most likely you’ll get scheduled Thursday.
Anyways welcome to the forum, glad you’re here.

My dealer sat on my second XLT order until 12/11/23 and it's scheduled 02/19/24. (regretted not opting for locker on first order)

No hard facts to back it up, but I wouldn't be surprised March/April.

Placed my order today through my dealer - but no official paperwork just yet. Definitely not waiting for one to show up on the lot. Those who had problematic Maverick orders who tried to get a truck off a dealer's lot paid a huge ADM. I like the order option - pay for what you want and no other surprises.

Thanks for having me! You'll be happy to know Ford stole me away from 24 years of Honda ownership with the Ford Maverick.

Time for an upgrade!

Wish I could get the 2024 Ranger XL that I ordered in Shelter Green Metallic. C'mon Ford! Surprise me with order #C893. You would make me the happiest customer EVER if I were to go to the dealership to pick up my Ranger and find that it was Shelter Green in color! :champagne::clap:

I wanted that color on my Lariat too. Probably the best color offered for the Ranger but few will get it. I would have paid the extra $1000 price fee they want for the Azure grey for the Shelter green.

Exclusive colors on the top of the line vehicle I’m used to since Jeep and Toyota do it as well, but what I think is a strange omission from the XL is that you can’t get the side step option. Doesn’t make any sense to me, especially since it’s an option and not a standard item on any trim.

Ford would have been smart to offer that as an additional color option for an upcharge.

That would be sweet, too! But I love the green/brown hue of the Shelter Green!
I’m with you on Shelter Green. Best color they have. I’m not a Raptor intender though. Curious to hear your thoughts on the Ranger vs. Maverick once you get it. I think I need a size upgrade from the Bronco Sport, & kinda hoping the Ranger is more similar to the Explorer in size.
