Normal engine noise for 25 2.3 xl

i have a 25 Ranger XL with the 2.3.
I am noticing more valve noise than what Im used to hearing from most engines. Im guessing this is normal. My other vehicles are a 93 5.0 f150 and a 2014 camry 4 cyl.
From what Ive resd. Thf engjnebus noiser since gett I ng rid of the engine cover. Its only noticeable standing outside the truck at udle.

That's not the valves you are hearing. It's the high-pressure fuel pump needed for direct injected engines.

Ive never had a vehicle with DI before. Thst explains why it is a unusual sound to me compared with other engines. Thks for the info.
