Does anybody have information on the stock subwoofer speaker itself? Specifically looking for size and mounting depth. The only thing I know so far is that it’s a dual voice coil, and it’s small maybe a 6, 6 1/2, or 6 3/4… doesn’t look like an 8.

I’d like to try replacing the OEM speaker with a nicer one like I did on my Mustang Mach one. The mustang has a 10” sub with the b&o system that you can replace with a pioneer sub, it sounds amazing for The low cost you put in it.
Check out the posts from flaberdoopin. He’s been at the forefront of modifications and has a very detailed post on swapping out the factory sub. I liked it so much, that I did the exact same thing and couldn’t be happier. As a bonus, it didn’t cost me a fortune!

I added the JBL 10” powered and the Keyloc, sounds way better.

Wow, can you share more details about this? It looks like you kept the factory sub and added another? Are they both active? Did you need to run a new power line to your new sub? As for wiring, does the output from the keyloc go to each sub with a y-cable or some such? Or is the keyloc just for the new sub? Edit: I love that this improves upon the original without sacrificing what little storage we have in our Rangers; I need my storage for tie-downs and tools and such.

Anyone know if a JL 8" minisub would fit?

Width (inches)18-5/8, Height (inches)11-1/8, Depth (inches)6-5/8

I have one I pulled out from one of my older vehicles when I sold it. Been sitting around collecting dust. I'd love to be able to use it again.
