Hey guys,

I have a decent 12v compressor that connects to the battery using alligator clamps. If I cut the clamps off and wired the compressor up to a regular 12v plug, would it be ok to use the 12v plug in the bed? Or is it too much load for that circuit?

Thanks

It'll likely pop the fuse. Compressors draw a bunch of amps on start up.

The 12v outlets are rated to 20 amps max. If your compressor does not have an amp rating on it, it may state how many watts it uses. Watts = Volts * Amps. So max wattage on the outlets is 240watts.

Ford put 2 extra wiring harness on the Ranger's one is in the front and one in back. I would use this first. It should be located close to the trailer wiring harness on the drivers side of vehicle.
