If anyone on here as any expertise or opinion on carbon fiber I would like your thoughts. It’s meant to be a piece of an air intake. Can’t quite tell if this is real, totally fake, or maybe carbon fiber layered over fiberglass or plastic? Any thoughts help!

Appears to be real. It’s dry carbon (no gel coat) and looks like it was vacuum molded based on the imprints on the underside. Can see the weave well enough to think it is not faux CF.

I've been looking into the IndiCarbon kits also. I think these are real. Other carbon fiber trim and parts I've seen that are fake didn't have a visible weave on the underside of the part and seemed to flex easily like a hard plastic would.

I’ve gotten products from them before and everything’s worked well but they haven’t been performance based so I haven’t quite cared as much. Huge if this air intake is exactly as promised!

It‘s real CF. It’s not FRP OR FRPCF.🇺🇸

Intake kit looks nice.
My first thought when they compared the intake port to stock, was that the stock one routed to the bottom help keep dirt and water out of the intake, but they showed the big holes on the sides that looked above/after the filter.

Not sure I completely follow... but the two ports each have their own filter, there is more direct flow from the intake to them, but the filter is upgraded from stock as well. I use BMC, but any 3.5 inch filter (K&N for example) works too. There is also a small hole in the bottom to let filtered dirt or moisture exit the airbox.

The intake port on the stock air filter box takes a 90* bend to the opening on the bottom of the air box. This one routes the port straight to the top of the air filter box.

I could imagine a reason for the stock one to route to the bottom of the box would be to have gravity help keep water and dirt in the air box and outside the engine.
I recall my 2.7 bronco has a trap door in the intake port to help keep water out.

My response is purely speculation as I did not design any of these but it looks like every single aftermarket air intake on the market right now removes the 90 degree angle Ford has on the stock airbox. I assume that means the filters themselves are relied upon to address any water or dirt coming through. There is a small hole (not pictured on the site) in the bottom of the Indicarbon airbox to allow any filtered dirt or water to drain out.
