Remote Start failed error

This error has occurred several times this winter on my Lariat. Remote start gives me this software error, "Too many remote start request have occurred. Please drive your vehicle to reset."

I don't have this issue on my 2017 F150, but this 2025 Ranger with to much tech give this error. It makes remote start worthless on my Ranger.

this is a built-in safety and emissions limit. Ford allows you to remote start the vehicle a maximum of two times (or one start plus one extension) before it locks out the feature.

Even if the truck only ran for a few minutes each time, the counter doesn't reset until the "computer" sees that a driver has actually used the vehicle.

How to "Drive to Reset" (The Shortcut)
You don't actually have to drive around the block. To clear the error on a 2025 Ranger:

1. Enter the vehicle with your key fob.
2. Start the engine manually (Press the brake and hit the Start/Stop button).
3. Shift into Gear: Shift into Drive, let it roll forward a few inches, then shift into Reverse and back into Park.
4. Turn the vehicle off. The "remote start counter" is now reset, and you can use FordPass or your key fob again.

That happened to me with the ford pass app. Funny thing is the truck was sitting for two days without any remote starts.

Just shift to D and back to P and counter resets.
