Does anyone know how to uplug the 7 pin connector from the hitch? I want to install a Leer wiring kit for the CHMSL (part #300200), which requires plugging into this location.

The grey tab at the top slides back a little buy doesn’t seem to release the plug - it doesn’t budge at all with firm (but cautious) pulling.

American adventure labs (pretty sure thats the company name) has a relocation bracket to the bumper near the license plate. I bet their site has instructions for removing the plug.

Thanks all your advice. I got the plug out after another attempt.

The trick is to slide the grey clip on top back (towards the front of the vehicle in this case), then press down on a tab on top while simultaneously pulling the plug out. It’s very finicky, but the plug comes fairly easily once you have performed the necessary voodoo to release the plug.

Do you know if you can remove the bracket for the 7pin? I dont think so but worth asking since you were just under there. If not i wonder if itd be possible to just take a mallet and bend that thing up so the connector is facing the ground.

I didn't see any fasteners to remove it, but I wasn't paying close attention. That said,, it looks like American Adventure Labs cut their bracket off.
