Yes, I did see your post in the middle of my struggles. I looked up every install post I could find to see if there were any tips or tricks I could use. Tried bottle jacks on both sides similar to your solution before I started altering the metal. One of the best pieces of advice was to tap and die chase all the threads prior to installation, added a lot of time to the job but made a huge difference being able to thread the stuff together.
