One thing I failed to calculate in to my plans was sales tax. Alaska doesn't have sales tax so it completely slipped my mind.
I went to one website and for $64,000 they're saying about $2,600.00, but after adding local sales tax, it's almost $6000..!

Any thoughts or suggestions? I'm not going to pay that kind of money over and above what I've already agreed to.

Louisiana sales taxes are high, averaging about 9.5%. If you are trading in or getting a rebate, you won’t pay sales tax on those amounts. MS tax on vehicles under 10k# is 5%. That’s bad enough, but our tags are prorated to be much more expensive for a new car, then the annual renewal goes down every year. It’s a definite added expense to own a new vehicle like a Ranger (but you’ll look so cool).

You pay sales tax based on where the car is registered not where it’s bought
yes, agreed. Didn’t realize you were buying it in LA and taking it to AK!

Phew! Thank you guys! The only Raptor available in Alaska was my local Ford Dealer, Seekins, and I was #18 on that list. So started looking around.

I live about 35 minutes from the dealer you’re getting your truck from.
Not that it matters, But As it’s been said here before, you won’t pay any taxes to Louisiana.
That’s gonna be a hellacious ride home.
You’ll be able to give a full real world review of the truck including oil change and maintenance ?

Every state deals with sales tax differently for out of state buyers. You need to find out from each dealer. Even cities and counties can be different. Also can matter where you take delivery. BTW. Montana has no sales tax.
