The big mistake at the corporate-level was releasing this vehicle before production was ready. They had a big marketing push and zero product available for more than 6 months. And now, the product that is available to order doesn’t even include the engine that gives them a significant competitive advantage. I honestly don’t know how people keep their jobs after making such idiotic decisions.
I am thinking the main problem was the strike when they were just about to build them. The strike effects everything including the manufactures of all the parts so it wasn't just the UAW.

I really enjoy reading all these comments, good and bad. People calling trucks ugly after waiting for it to be released for months. People raving about it after just finding out they exist. I know for myself, I just discovered the new 6th gen Ranger was coming out in September, ordered the Ranger Raptor in October. Received my February 5th build week yesterday.
I can’t wait until they start rolling out these trucks and this forum can start to be more positive and productive. Then we can talk about performance additions accessories etc. instead of all the whining and crying, bitching and bickering.

I hope Ford gets their stuff together and they build yours when they say but I would not doubt it gets delayed several more times. The faster they get one in the showroom the faster I make a decision on what to buy.

I’ve been a Tacoma guy for ALOT of years now. Currently drive a ‘23 off road which I absolutely hate the power train. I personally don’t like the gen4 inside or out not and not a fan with the 4 banger hybrid. Prices for them are crazy I think so I started looking around and ran across the Ranger Raptor and wow. I’ve never owned a Ford besides my old 90’s Rangers I drove for work/yard work. I’ll tell you this the Ford ordering experience is 100x better than Toyota.

Yea people get really butthurt about Ford but don't realize how much worse other OEMs are. This talk about Toyotas beating them to the punch is extremely blown out of proportion.

None of your business!
People pls..the article is on '23 sales. My toyota dealerships ALSO have tons of Tacos available as people are now awaiting the new gen release (early '24). Anybody in the mid size truck market will now want the lastest model rather than rush and buy the current gen that will depreciate really quick.

The new taco is just currently hyped up by social media sponsors but Toyota really effed up the design. Other than the TRD PRO and Trail hunter, the regular trims all come with the huge massive plastic skirt. When the twins came out with it years ago, Taco fans were laughing at the "snow plougher". Look how the table turned ...lol.

On top of that, Toyota still gets average gas mileage with the new 4 banger engine and new Ranger will have the BEST fuel economy even compared to Chevy/Canyon and new Taco.

If ya price new Taco for a mid offroad trim, it comes out to $45k with barebone stock! GMC Canyon Elevation that comes with 2 inch suspension lift, safetly options, nicer stance and interior with 2.7 high torque engine is $43K (at my work, we have contract with GM so I can get a corporate discount as well).

Toyota will still sell boatloads of new taco but gonna milk their fan base on selling a mid size truck for $50k (with possible markups). A slightly used Tundra is around $50k with fully loaded options...

I'm patiently waiting for the 2.7 ecoboost in the new Ranger hopefully next year.

Gotta make some Rangers before you can sell some Rangers.

Not sure how this has anything to do with Toyota. I think people are commenting without reading the article.

5G rangers are sitting on lots for an average 90.5 days because it's the outgoing model. Far from shocking.

I’ll tell you why. The public opinion (myself included) is that the new ranger looks terrible.
I'm sure for some that's it. For others it's lack of availability. And I think Tacoma just IS the midsize market at this point. So the first real redesign in two decades is big news.

Personally, I like the clean, squared design of new Ranger. I also like new GMs, but too busy on front. Tacoma looks like it was designed with Lego Duplos to me with a plastic snowplow on front. The more I see about actual Tacoma specs versus marketing hype in Hawaii, the more disappointed I am. Fuel tank is now smaller than Ranger, payload is maybe 1200 lbs even on lower trim 4x4 crew cabs. And rear seat room still tightest other than maybe Frontier. At that point there's no redeeming features of Tacoma for me other than potential reliability given the brand (though I'm guessing they will all be pretty unreliable for several years).

Personally, I feel the Chevy Zr2 is the best looking mid-size truck, with the 24 RR right there with it. I'm curious if anyone has test drove a 2023 Zr2?

I'm speculating that they drive similar to the the Ranger, with some pros and cons for each, but I hate to admit this, but I really like the look of the current Zr2 and the 24. A test drive could make me switch as they are cheaper than Fords and Ford has some real challenges right now, leaving me with little confidence in their ability to get anything in the market for another year.

The 2024 Colorado build and price is up and it has the Bison package listed for the ZR2. The package alone is a bit over $12k and if you want the ventilated seats add another $1k-ish to that.

The ZR2 I put together with those 2 packages, without a moon-roof, comes to almost $62k. The affordability of the ZR2 goes out the window if someone adds the Bison package and places it above RRaptor pricing.
I then went to the 2024 Canyon configurator and it tells me to 'contact Dealer for pricing' when I add the AEV package to that.

I'm not looking at either truck but I figured I would check them out, since Toyota released the pricing for the initial trims offered.

I really would like a Ranger Raptor, but I've been presented with an irresistible offer to purchase a '24 F-150 RCSB 4x4 from a relative that has a scheduled order but won't be able to go thru with it due to circumstances beyond their control. Sure, they could've canceled or walked away, but they asked me because they know I have a soft spot for 2Dr pickups.

I'll know for sure after Christmas and have been in contact with their Dealer about it.

Yeah, I get it. Everything cost money. :)

I love the look of the Chevy and I'm hearing really positive reviews of it. I don't need every fancy add-on, but heated/cooled seats sure is a nice option that Ford doesn't even have (only heated). For me, it's a lot to do with what's available to drive and buy. It's probably best to wait another 6 months until the Toyota's and Raptors are out to see which drives best. We are in a wait and see period and it's getting a bit long in the tooth.
