I’m thinking about buying a Snowmobile and looking at options for hauling it. Anyone have any suggestions for the Ranger? I’d like to get it in the back of the bed so I don’t have to haul a trailer. Was looking at a Sled deck or something that would allow me to unload and load.

I’m new to the snowmobile world so any advice welcome.

Even my 4 wheeler needs the tailgate down in a 5ft bed. I find loading/unloading with a trailer easier, and more options to tie it down good.

I'd have a chuckle if I saw for example Yellowstoner's pic from that thread going down the road, but I'm sure it's fine. More power to you guys if you can make it work.

Yeah looks like a trailer is my best bet!

I don't think I've ever seen anything for a mid-sized truck, but certainly for a 1/2 ton.. quick search pulled up these beauties https://www.marlonproducts.com/products/truck-decks/truck-decks/. No idea what the price point is but any rack system is going to be very expensive that's for sure. Everyone has seen disaster videos of sleds getting up on trucks. If it was me, I would just do a trailer, that way your sled has a summer home and easily portable at that time too. Good luck with your venture, it would be cool to see what you end up with.

what about this unit? honestly I don't think I'd want that much weight on my gate but this seems simple...

That looks like it could work since it's 119x48in but agree it's a lot of weight on the gate. I found their web site and a few reviews mention using it a 5.5ft bed but don't see any with a 5.0ft bed. https://www.dgrpramps.ca/the-dgrp-rollable-ramp/. My Doo 137in sled is close to 120in overall length and the center of gravity is near the front axel. I feel like that would be very close to the end of the 5ft bed. I've seen single place sled decks before but seems like a lot of weight compared to this slide in. Personally, I think I'll stick with my 12x8 enclosed Nitro trailer. ;)

I came across this video with mods to a slide in ramp that look like would be a better setup for the 5ft box. The hitch mounted cross bar would take all the weight off the tailgate. Not sure if it would be too much torsional load on the hitch or not.

That looks like a pretty sweet setup.
