Read about previous issues with the 3.0l and oil leaks from the plastic pan for numerous reasons. I know a bunch of Explorer ST guys have made the swap due to oil starvation and leaks. Now I see some Raptor Rangers have leaky oil pans due to either failed gasked material or loose bolts. While I was under my truck installing a PPE transmission pan I saw a bit of oil on the transmission bell housing. It has never dripped that I am aware of, and I checked around for leaks but was unable to find any. If I do get a leak though and it's the pan I would rather get rid of that plastic oil pan if possible.
Anyone know if the aluminum pan for the 3.0 liter in the Explorer ST would fit our trucks? It's the same motor, I can't imagine they changed it much. Here is the pan:
