This works well with 150 ecos. Why not a Ranger

Many years I ran 150s, last summer had a tremor. I had a coyote but the eco boys ran lights in front the cooler all day long, many in hot climates. Any reason it would not work on a Ranger? One each side the plate, looks like plenty of room for SS3s or 2s if worried about air flow

This will cause heat soak if you run the engine hard, towing, driving fast, off roading. The intercooler heats up and becomes less efficient causing the turbos to heat up, and the ECU to cut fuel or timing to save the motor. A lot of us put after-market intercoolers in our trucks to improve, or rather maintain performance, by doing the opposite of this, getting more intake air cooling.

Lots of air moving in that area. A few replace the intercooler, most who do won’t ever appreciate the benefit. For 99%+, this won’t negatively impact anything.
I plan to mount lights in that area. Once the weather warms up.

I have a Ranger Raptor with a FP tune, which allows you to monitor intake air temp, charged air temp, timing of ignition, timing of cams, ect. It takes less than 5 seconds of full throttle to watch intercooler temps go up fast, and performance start to go down. If you never run your truck at more than half throttle, you might not lose any performance by cutting off air to the intercooler. If you do tow, run in the sand, or just like driving fast, cutting air to the intercooler will decrease performance potential....Don't believe me and my real life results. Just Google "intercooler heat soak", or go to an aftermarket intercooler's site and let them explain it to you more eloquently.

I bet it’s not that far off. What % of Ranger owners will even take their truck on a lawn? Even this forum represents a fraction of a percent of total owners. Yes, there are some. You are one. But you are in the minority, by a significant margin. And I’m not disputing your examples or the engineering/principles behind it. Many owners do things to their truck at the expense of “performance”. You install your tune and watch all those numbers. I’m going to shine some yellow light out my bumper. We can both be happy.

I'm gonna presume that the actual limiting feature to airflow thru that section is the outflow capability of the engine compartment (unless you actually block the airflow or divert it around the opening in it's entirety. The intercooler is air to air, so not real efficient at heat transfer, so even with a slight reduction in airflow (unlikely at anything other than sitting at a stoplight) the overall loss of cooling effectiveness is probably non measurable.

I understand what you are saying, but if it was that sensitive, why did Ford put the ACC radar right there in front of the IC? Now, having ACC (I don't) and adding lights may lead to problems for some.
