There's very little information I could find on the actual wiring of the upfitter switches. I ordered a light bar from ebay that comes with a wiring harness attached to a relay and a switch. I was going to cut the relay and switch off and just run the red light bar hot wire directly to the upfitter switch in the engine bay and ground the black wire to the frame. Should I keep the relay in the harness and wire the harness switch to the upfitter switch instead? Is there already a relay wired in from the car"s upfitter switch to the engine bay? The harness that comes with the light bar is supposed to be attached to the battery and then the switch just controls it's on/off through the relay. But I don't see how any of that would be necessary if the vehicle already has that full circuit pre wired, I just can't find out if it actually does.

The upfitter switches are fused and have relays already. As long as the current draw for your accessory does not exceed the rating of the circuit (switch) you choose - then you can cut out all that “extra” stuff and wire the accessory directly to the upfitter output.

You have to ground the accessory. The upfitter output provides 12v+.

Anyone know if these RR upfitter switches are on a timer to protect the battery? Specifically the ones at the rear of the truck in case my bed lights get left on? I researched realize i can use the cargo light switch as well as the interior lights wire but i want a light for the bed i can turn off and on at the tailgate.
