Headlight wiring harness plug wire identification

I'm trying to find out which wire in the headlight harness plug is the one for drl. I have an LED grille I want to hook up to the harness and solder to but I don't know which one it is. Would it be the same as the Australian and British rangers?

Did you ever get the info your looking for? I'm in the same boat, I got some grill lights from ebay and trying to figure out which wires to tap into.

I basically prayed and hoped for the best that the wires were the same as the international ranger. Turns out it was. If you look up on YouTube ford ranger nighthawk grill installation, the video will tell you which ones to tap into for the DRLs. I did the process exactly how it says and it worked perfectly.

So far I have not seen any direct proof of the wire color coding. I did find these 2 plug diagrams that I hope are valid. Over this holiday weekend I hope to figure this out.

Just hooked my grill lights (US version) up to the DRL, works great. Based on that video was able to find the DRL wire at the back of the driver's headlight plug - thin gray wire with blue trace. Although the wire harness did not have enough give to be able to tap into it from the top of the engine compartment, wound up accessing it through the drivers fender well. Just a few screws and plastic pin clips to separate the 2 pieces of felt wheel well liner enough to pull the plug harness out far enough to tap into the wire.

I recommend turning off the drl wink w Forscan if you are tapping that wire. Otherwise the grill lights will turn off when you use the turn signal on that side. Maybe its just my OCD, but I found that weird.

BTW, did you get the brake booster recall? I'm having mine done next week.

There is also a side curtain airbag shield installation recall. This recall the parts are not available yet.

It works fine, stays on even with the turn signal

Thats odd. The DRLs turn off with the turn signal unless they are changed in Forscan. Maybe you tapped something else?

I’m looking to install F150leds LED Grille kit into my EU Raptor
and go through the DRL wire in the headlamp harness.
Do you have any issue with the LED’s when you switch on the dipped headlamps and the DRL’s dim down?
I read somewhere that with the DRL’s dimming, any lighting accessory that’s tapped into the DRL wire will be affected?

I was able to get this interim wire harness from SPV with 2 pigtails, 1 for the DRL, 1 for the turn signal. Probably cost me $45 more than the normal one but, I don't have to worry about cutting/splicing into my harness. This way I can plug in this short harness with the 2 pigtails and plug in my XkGlow I also asked for the male Weather tight connector to crimp on the Switchback wires. Switchbacks for my front grill. (picture shows their off-the-shelf harness) I'll let you all know when I get it installed!
