Variable Flow Oil Pump

Am not used to seeing engine oil pressure this low but guess that’s what the variable flow system on the 2025 2.3 engine is supposed to do. Most of the time this is the reading that I am seeing but it’s higher on engine startup, when accelerating, or as I experienced yesterday driving against a 50 mph wind.

My gauge acts similarly on a 2.7 I think the tick marks are just that, ticks marks, and not nominal range like on the temp gauges. Need to figure out forscan and put the actual number values on the guages.

I have been told that is normal and much of the swing in pressure you will see has to do with the cam phasers. Don’t know for sure but I guess they are actuated by oil pressure.

It's an analog gauge with no datum.
Thinking it looks low is baseless since there is no scale on the gauge nor markings to indicate what it should be.
My question is, "What do you think it should be?".

Well I know it should be above zero, seen that before

I think myself and OP had a little of the uh oh factor, because the oi pressure gauge has tick marks that at first glance looked to be nominal range but are just the standard gauge tick marks for the system.

I didn't know it was an analog gauge. I assumed Ford would have logic to interpret a digital number output for oild pressure as it is a diagnostic tool, but at this point it wouldn't suprise me if they just actually put an analog display into a digital cluster with no value reference.

I was surprised it was a live gauge. I thought it was a glorified dummy light calibrated to center.

When my ambient temperature sensor went out and the air started blowing hot with the check engine light on, I looked and saw the gauge at about 1/4, and was alarmed.
