What does this do?

Hopefully someone here can answer this question. I’ve had this raptor for two days and I’m trying to figure out what the auto button does in the HVAC area. If you touch auto, there’s three levels of auto, like a low, medium, high.
I’ve hit the button and the fan doesn’t go on anymore than the previous level?. Also, can anyone else figure out if there is a sync function in the dual HVAC? Thank you.

I'm also curious about the 3 bars under the auto setting. As far as syncing goes...

Auto also controls function (AC, def, heat etc.) and also temp based on your temp setting. Fan cuts higher and lower as needed. The 1-2-3 is a fan bias setting (for higher to lower fan speed bias).
I run my F150 in auto year round set to 21.5C (about 72F). I rarely need to change from that, where I live in Canada it can be -40F winter to plus 100F summer, same setting year round.

If the HVAC in the Ranger is anything like my wife's Explorer ST, I'm going to pull the fuses on it! There is no actual user control any more. Sure, you can set the temp manually, and you can push the button that says A/C, and a little light will even come on when you turn it on. But if you think you can just turn it off and expect it to be that way, you're wrong! On damp or rainy days, the A/C compressor comes on whether you have the A/C or defroster on or not because there's a humidity sensor built into the system that turns on the compressor if the humidity is above a certain level REGARDLESS of the manual setting of the system.

There are days that I like to ride with the windows down, or days that I am comfortable in a bit more humid environment, but the system tries to outsmart me and decides for me that I really need that compressor running. Because it also cools the air, I have to adjust the temp control when that happens to avoid freezing my butt off. But then when it decides the humidity has been reduced enough, it turns off, and then the temp setting is too hot, requiring another adjustment. And, I don't want the compressor running at all if I have the windows down. That's just a waste of energy.

Is it like that ONLY when it is in AUTO mode? Or all of the time? I hate that as well. Luckily, my Acura actually shuts off the A/C OFF if I hit the button. I have a friend with a Toyota, and it is like you describe; if the defrost vents are chosen, the A/C runs NO MATTER what. No way to shut it off. Even though the light on the A/C button is not lit.

Where in the manual did you find that? Its not in the PDF I downloaded from Ford.
I found that info on a Bronco Forum. The Bronco has the same system as our Rangers, so I thought I’d post it.

While we're asking what things do...

Does anyone know what this icon means at the bottom of the Raptor Status page? I can't figure it out.
