I have a really small crack in the windshield from a rock. It is about a 1/4 long and really hard to see. I am wondering if this can be fixed without windshield replacement or will something like this be on warranty?

Geico covers repairing those small dings/knicks/cracks for free, here in texas because its cheaper than a new window and it happens so much.

If you happen to have geico

Definitely not a warranty item. Many insurances cover these issues as part of comprehensive coverage. I'd check with you company first. If the damage is small enough and not in you direct field of vision, it can be repaired by an auto glass company using an injection process. But address it quickly before the crack spreads.

Does anyone have any experience with exterior windshield films? I wonder if that would be worth it to prevent damage

I've seen a bunch of them at Amazon. Some get a good rating. Some get a not so good rating

It depends upon the film used. XPEL has about the best available and is considerably thicker. I’ve used it on several different cars and trucks. It’s always kept the windshield without damage on each and everyone.

Several had major rock strikes and only damaged the film. As long as it taken care of with regular maintenance it can last up to 4 year. It’s not inexpensive but it pays for itself.??
