Hey guys, lived in tropical climate for years and now live in a very cold climate. Not thinking much about it when I got my 2025 XLT in May. now we hit the low teens in Fahrenheit I’m wondering if anyone has heard of a dealer install option for adding a heated steering wheel? I have horrible arthritis in my hand that is not going away with gloves alone.
Thanks

you may be able to get it done but you will have to ask. i would hate to think how much they are going to charge though.

maybe some of those heated gloves would be better? i have seen them on amazon, ebay, and just googling heated gloves. they are rechargeable using a usb

I’ll check those out! Yea the thought of the dealer installing anything hurts my wallet for sure.

I have checked with my dealer for a couple of unrelated installations to your heated steering wheel question - and I have discovered that they will add roughly 3k to the price it would have been at the factory. Now, a heated steering wheel is only available at Lariat and Raptor trim levels, so the factory would never have installed it for you. But that’s the kind of the markup you would be looking at.

to the OP: just so you know, the heated steering wheel (at least on my 24 Lariat) is not like other heated steering wheels I've had. It doesn't stay toasty-warm. It warms up "ok" for about 10 minutes and then goes down to very lukewarm. It's sort of meh.

Before I retired I worked in the Powersports industry. We sold Joe Rocket heated gloves. They get very warm. Ive only used them a few times on my motorcycle, but many times when blowing snow. They get unbearably hot on the highest setting to the point your hands are sweating. They work great on the lowest setting even when the temperature is in the teens or single digits.

My 24 Lariat heated steering starts very hot then cools a bit, but heats up again to very warm. At times too much heat and end up turning it off.

The steering wheel temperature is sensor regulated. It's working exactly as it should. Once the cabin warms up, lukewarm is perfect for Victoria's temperate climate.

That may well be & I didn't say anything to the contrary. Just wanted the OP to know the result is "meh" and not earth-shattering before they spend $2 grand or whatever. Seems like worth knowing.

I haven't tried it but according to the forscan spreadsheet, you can set the temperature to be higher.

Fair enough. What I find annoying is the counterintuitive combination seat heater and steering wheel heat switch.

Interesting thread, I use mine all the time. I did notice the heated steering wheel in the Lariats I recently bought for my business don’t seem to get as warm as the heated steering wheels in my Raptors. Maybe they have the heat turned up a bit for the thicker steering wheels of the Raptors.

If it turns out that it can be retrofitted into an XLT, I can’t imagine it costing less than $1500-2K.
Which would make the proposition of XLT vs Lariat an easily one if this is a must have feature.

There were several things that forced me to move on up to the Lariat trim for my business trucks.
I normally buy XLT level F150s for my business, but with Ranger seems the optimal spec for my needs forced me into the Lariat for various reasons to get certain features.
