I’m on the struggle bus today…
A used 2021 Ranger Lariat Tremor w/Technology package just listed at the local dealer for $44,000 - 26,000 miles. I have been looking to down size for awhile from my 18 F150 but wanted to see the new ranger…
I’m seriously contemplating not waiting anymore and just getting the 5G….

Seriously? 2018 F-150 is a great truck and only 5 years old. I have 1 and we just put an extended warranty on it and have 2 road trips with camping trailer lined up. If it isn't costing a ton of $ to operate and/or if it's paid for, I don't see any advantage to doing deal for that Ranger that won't get much better MPG than your F-150 and has the 3yr/36k expired or about to. Have you driven a 5G? If not, wouldn't hurt to go test drive the Tremor, but otherwise sounds like you are bored and just looking to make change for the sake of change... 🤷‍♂️

I'd say take the Tremor for a drive and see how you like it. If you do maybe they'll give you a deal you can't refuse.

Bahahaha i mean you aren't 100% wrong lol change for the sake of change

I like variety, what can i say.

It is a great truck, i just have wanted to downsize for awhile now and i can get a great trade in price for mine. I've put 50,000 miles on it and can trade it in for about $8000 less than what i bought it used for 4 years ago.

You will still be waiting for the Ranger after launch and order. Give the 5G a chance. The 6G is mainly about the new interior. Plus all the price increases.

not trying to be rude here, but you are really mistaken about the 6G being mainly about the interior. I reposted that 6G teardown to the frame video by the Tech Shop in AUS that shows MAJOR changes to the frame 2x already. Do you want me to post it again? Ford addressed some very common complaints about the handling and ride quality in 5G. They also made smart updates to the engine compartment for a 2nd battery and the V6 to fit. I'm hoping they also made the oil filter easier to access too for us old guys to DIY.

Price increases are expected, no matter what on new vehicles and to me is never a major reason to not buy new. Along with new EPA MPG rules coming, mandatory DUI lockout breathalyzers made into law by US Congress, more modems to automatically relay data on mileage driven (with auto billing SW) & scarce availability certain to continue for next 1-2 years- now may be the last, best chance to get a Ranger with so much customer choice for buyers to avoid unwanted features and restrictions. YMMV

Isn't a brand new Tremor 47k, and you want to get this 2 year old Tremor for 44K? Thats a No dawg for me. If you are going to settle, I would at least want an amazing deal.

To be fair, the 6G is a lot more than just new interior. The outside/bed are wider. Interior supposedly roomier, new tech is a big deal such as the 4auto function as well as wireless carplay/android auto. etc.

I'd say it would be worth waiting for if we knew for sure you could get one in the fall but Ford being Ford, we could be 3 years out from realistically getting one on the lot.

I think we have 2 to 4 weeks before we finally hear or see anything about the G6 and order banks will open shortly there after.

Personally, I'd wait to see what the pricing is and what's all available for us in NA, since I'd put money on you won't find any/many G6 Rangers on the lot that aren't the lower basic trims for quite a while once production gets rolling.

I'm basing this off of the Ford Video guy's weekly live-cast and how other Ford models are faring on the mid to upper trims.

Sadly, my Bronco is scheduled to arrive at the Dealer the week of May 12th, but whether that date will hold is yet to be seen. It looks like I will have to end up buying it, having it shipped to me, then sell it if the Ranger Raptor is at a some-what sane price point.

Spec'd out on the builder it was $49,910. There aren't too many Tremors in my area so they do command a bit more, but thats just the price on the tag, not what i'd pay haha

I'm just concerned that even if i wait, order right away, how long is this going to take before i take delivery. If i push my truck 20,000 more miles, i'm over 100K and may take a hit on trade in, especially if prices fall a bit more & then i'll likely just keep my f150 longer... because thats the more rational and reasonable thing to do.

So my question is, i want a smaller truck, i wouldn't want any other used midsized currently on the market... so do i just keep waiting and trade in realistically in a year, 2? or just be content with a 5g.... idk what the right answer is lol

Yeah I think that is the main concern a lot of us have. It is taking so long to even get an announcement, and then there will be tons of waiting after that. My pov is, I've waited this long, I owe it to myself to at least find out what the pricing is otherwise I may have some serious remorse.

But at this point, I can't fault anyone for moving on.

there are a couple 23 Lariats with the Jungle splash package still available out there for decent prices ...I decided when I bought mine that I was not going to wait for a bunch more stuff that I probably wouldn't care that much about

Agree!
I just got into a '23, 4x4, Jungle splash edition myself. Traded, reluctantly, my ' 98 Green extended cab, 4x4 Ranger in fir it.
Thought after 298K fun miles, it was about time. Eruption Green! Awesome color! So far LOVE my new Ranger G5! I'll get a G6 in about 300k miles.
