Well spent about 3 hours installing and testing the Tommy gate relay kit.
‘It did stop thinking it had a trailer, but there was a delays and intermittent long pauses in the turn signal on the rack lights. The whole thing was a bust, had to put it back like we had it without the relay kit to get the lights all functioning properly again. Of course once again it thinks the rack / redundant lighting is trailer . Back to square one. There might be some hope that the dealer can shut off auto trailer detection with FRDS tool.

I am now curious if forescan can get me into where I can turn off auto trailer detection myself.

If those that have experience with Forescan , could look in the list of functions you can edit for something that looks like it would allow shutting off of the auto trailer detection would be greatly appreciated.

Update.
Took the truck to the dealer. Ford Fleet tech support indicated they thought auto trailer detection could be turned off with the FRDS tool, spent several hours at the dealership.
‘Turned out that didn’t work. There was nothing found in FRDS to turn off the feature, my dealer also had what sounded like the Forscan said it similar to FRDS only in an aftermarket tool, nothing in there either to turn off the auto trailer detection either.

So still no luck getting all my safety features back working. Truck still thinks it has a trailer, still having to go through the trailer Menes to pick my trailer called rack lights and with that selected and setup, I do get blind side monitoring back online but that it, and the truck randomly forgets the selected trailer every time or every other time I start the truck.

This should not be this hard. Auto trailer detection should be a feature we can access in the trucks setting menu on the center screen.

All this BS is very annoying at this point.

Emailed the same tech support fleet person I emailed before. Letting them know His FRDS suggest fix, did not work. Turning off auto trailer detection was not something FRDS can access control of.
Just crickets. This week from Ford and my Ford dealer on finding a workable solution.

Keep us updated. I have the same problem. ie. Aftermarket light strip causing Ranger to think it has a trailer and disables the blind side notifications, and truck loses your selection "no attached trailer". Multiple alarms on dash.

I did setup a trailer profile and labeled it rack lights only.
‘By setting up the bogus trailer profile I was able to set perimeters that did get my blindside monitors back on.

Not sure why, but it would forget my selected trailer profile every restart. Now, or all last week it started remembering the trailer I had selected even after restarts. So that’s been nice. I just have to cancel out the cross traffic alert off warning.

Still planning to try and find a solution.

Spoke with Tommy gate tech support again, seems with fords you have to splice into the taillights and use that relay kit and that I am told will work. Going to be trying that soon.

@F150LEDsMatt I see you guys are offering redundant rear taillight strips for F150s now.

Will these be offered for Rangers at some point?
If so, how are you handling these Ford trucks which have auto trailer detection now days whenever adding redundant lighting like this. I have yet to find a kit that will allow me redundant lighting without trigging the truck to think it has a trailer and by thinking it has a trailer on it is shutting off some of my safety features. I am still looking for solution to this issue.

@cc1999 have you found any solutions yet? I am building my wiring planning for my accessory light I have sitting for my truck. Going to be mounting an RTL-S from Baja Designs on my GFC Topper and want to have the signal and brake light function as it should. I may start testing voltage coming thru the connector to help sort what wire is what. Any wiring diagram you have come upon?

No, not found or heard of any solutions yet.
Everything I have come up with involves tapping into those tiny wires going into the taillight.
Have not found any shops willing to do it.

I have hopes set upon one the companies that make the rear bumper lights to come up with a solution. I believe some have created solutions for the F150 but was told it would not work on the Ranger that I would need to wait for something come out for the ranger.

F150 LED has something for the F150. Was hopeful they would come out with something for the Ranger.

I found this old post for last gen Ranger and finding a pin layout for the rear tailight harness connector.

https://forum.gofastcampers.com/t/2021-ford-ranger-third-brake-light/16542/5

I am searching and searching but can't seem to find anything on this information for 24 Trucks. I dont have a problem tapping into the wires. Just gotta figure out what wires are what back there

I hooked up the lights on my headache rack last night, truck now thinks it has trailer behind it?

Is there any sort of way to fix it so it does not auto detect a trailer, or in my case a lighted headache rack ?

The really big downside to the truck thinking it has a trailer behind it is that it keeps shutting down numerous safety features, like blind side monitors are now off, cross traffic detection is now off, backup park sensors are also now shut off.

All the tech support people I spoke to from Ford, Putco, Tommy gate, and F150LED all said the same thing that 24' model Ranger's wiring is different from the prior generation.
I got my blind side monitor programed to work with it thinking there is a super short trailer hooked up, but still have no cross-path detection.

@cc1999 Took some screen shots of the connector on LH and RH Taillight connectors. I need both brake and signal. I would be unsure on using pin 1 & 2 or Pin 1 and Pin 11. Maybe someone else can way in on that Circuit function

Circling back on this post SPV Harnesses has a T Harness for this application. I am working with them to modify it for my needs with needing signals, running/brake and reverse. But they have harness for Brake and reverse already!

Very nice, 👍
I am needing the same functions. Brake, turn, running, and reverse.
Did they have any sort of ETA on what we are needing?

It is a shame Ford can’t simply program in a simple off function for the auto trailer detection feature.

Working with one of the main guys over there right now. I should have something to test here hopefully in the next few weeks. I will mention that someone else would want this as well, maybe that will bump it in priority for them

Awesome!

So just to be sure, they do understand the goal at hand is to power redundant lighting without triggering the auto trailer detection system that shuts down all the safety sensors.

There are kits out there to run redundant lighting, I am running my lights with one now, but it powers off trailer plugs wiring and taps in on the back of the bumper plug, triggering the auto trailer detection system and shutting off all my safety sensors which I have to OK to clear my info screen every time I start the truck.

I programed in a trailer profile for my head arch rack lights in order to get my Blind side monitor system back on, I programed in a 3ft long trailer to get them to work as much like normal as possible.
