Guys, maybe the solution to front camera installing is here in Brazil. A company called Faaftech here create a interface to make it work without cutting any wires. Simply plug & play.

https://www.faaftech.com/produtos/interface-de-camera/ft-frc-frd1/

Bought it last week and going to install it tomorrow morning. As soon as I get it to work I will come back here and let you know.

Nice. That is really cool. I have too many questions :D. Curious how it was installed, did you plug it in straight to IPMA module? where is the IPMA module located? Does the module have vacant slot or was it daisy chained to other cameras?

Congrats man. Please keep us posted :)

As promised, here I am 😅

I recorded a video explaining the whole process but I'm speaking portuguese on it. I assume it won't help you much.

Here is an image presenting the connection scheme, also in portuguese, but I numbered some parts in green squares so I can refer to you:

#1 - Car original connector: it is connected behind the Syn4 screen.

#2 - Faaftech interface input female connector.

#3 - Faaftech interface output male connector: identical to the original one (#1).

#4 - A very tiny module. It fits ok anywhere. I left mine underneath the wireless charging area.

#5 - A RCA male connector to plug the OEM rear camera.

#6 - A RCA female connector to plug the new front camera.

#7 - A RCA female connector to plug the OEM rear camera.

Yes, I know, #4 and #6 have are a bit confusing. It's because this same product can be used to enable the rear camera to non-camera models, like our XL version.

Now let's get to the installation:

- Unplug #1 from behind the multimedia screen and connect it to #2.
- Connect #3 to where you disconnected #1.
- Connect #4 to the rest of the interface.
- Connect #5 to #7.
- Connect #6 to your front camera (video).
- Connect #8 to your front camera (12V and GND).

That's it. Installation is over. No wire cutting. It took me about 1.5 hours because of all the disassembling and reassembling.

And how exactly it works? Two ways:
- Automatic: When you select reverse gear, the rear camera opens up on your media screen, like always. Once you turn to drive gear, it automatically changes the image to the front camera for 30 seconds and then closes.
- Manual: You can also activate the front camera by pressing the phone button on the steering wheel anytime.

Almost forgot. The camera I used is from the same company that makes the interface. It's a 720p resolution, NTSC format.

If any questions left, feel free to ask. 😀

Awesome you got it to work so well over there in Portugal but I can’t seem to purchase the module from the website you shared. Any other links?

The website I shared is just showing it's features. I bought mine on this one: https://www.wolloko.com.br/MLB-2042...utomotivo-para-carros-com-sistema-carplay-_JM

I'm not sure this website is able to ship to Australia. It's not really common brazilian websites offering international shipping. I can try sending an email to them. If there's no way them can sell internationally, I can send it to you.

I really want this for my truck, I seem to still have trouble judging where the front bumper is. Did you have to disassemble that much of the dash just to get at the camera wires?
Thanks

Unfortunately I did. You have to remove the multimedia to get access it's connector, and to remove the multimedia you have to remove everything that surrounds it.

I did not do it myself. I went to a Ford dealership and payed for the service. I just asked them to remove the multimedia. When it was removed, I went there with the wire scheme I posted before and started to watch and understand what I had to do. When I connected everything, did some testing (like I show on the YT video) and authorized them to put all back to place.

I'll post here one more video where I show the connections. Again, I'm speaking portuguese on it. If you guys have any questions just mention the time of this video and I can translate.
