I installed the Ford modular bed liner a few days ago.

I used all the tips available here and online so I didn’t strip the bed tie down bolts. It’s a Torx Plus 40 bit. I loosened and tightened them back and forth, and also used my electric heat gun and that seemed to help too. There was way too much red loctite on the bolts. Cleaning them up, and cleaning out the threads in the bed, made putting them back in very easy.

Really happy with the quality of the bedliner.

Good show! I stripped a bolt even with the correct Torx. I ended up holding a fat soldering iron on the heads of the bolts till they surrendered easily.

I heated the bolts up and then loosened them until i started feeling resisitance and then heat them up some more. Took a long time that way, but no stripping.

Good job! Seems like it went smoother than my install. I ended up getting the same bolts but with a socket head. I want to say it was 12mm so I don't have to deal with the same thing again if I had to take it off again (since I had to remove parts to do the BakFlip hahahaha)

I cleaned off all of the Loctite, so if I have to remove these again it should be pretty easy.

Put mine in today. Got lost in shipping for 3 weeks with ford
I heated the 1st bolt and came out way too easy. Did all the tie downs quick with. 1/4” impact went well with no heat

Bringing up an old thread here…

Will a 4x8 sheet of plywood still fit flat between the wheel wells? I believe it would just barely fit before.

No sir I dont believe so. IIRC it's about 1/2" shy. There is a lip about 1" tall and it will fit over that if you can make some spacer, but no not out of the box, sorry.

I have the same drop-in bed liner and mine measures 47 1/4 inches.

Edit: I measured with the Ford bed mat in place which is 3/4" thick.

Thanks for checking that out. I’ll have to chew on this for a bit to decide.

Here’s a pic with a 4’ level as reference. 45.5” wide at base. Prop up 1.5” and you’ll have support for drywall.

Huh! Ill have to remeasure mine once I take all the junk out of the bed haha. Though I swear mine was closer than that, it fit pretty much up against the wells.
