So did the oil extraction oil change at 3000 yesterday. I have the 2.7L. I pulled over 6.6 quarts of oil from the engine. They are obviously not checking oil levels at the factory after the initial fill. I didn’t bother with the drain plug as the extractor was able to get it all out. I filled with 6 quarts and the level is where it should be. I can’t imagine almost being a quart over filled is good for the engine. I had to stop and empty the 6.5L tank and start again so it didn’t over flow. So I got 6.6 quarts and the doesn’t take into account the residual oil left in the engine components. So I’d say it’s safe to say another .2 quarts minnimum? So almost a full quart overfill

i am not sure on this engine, how much room is left in the pan to hold excess but it used to be very common to add extra when doing your own oil changes or if you were racing. a half a quart, or maybe a quart, depends on the engine, usually doesn't raise the level enough that the crank is hitting the oil and causing frothing. and engines now days probably have built in windage trays to help keep the oil down low on turns.

really the only way to tell if its causing trouble is see if the oil is bubbly on the stick after running it for a bit, or drop your pan and measure how much more room you have once its readying full.

since my 2.3 says some odd number like 5.7 quarts, i just put 6 in and go

My 2.7 also came with too much oil from the factory. Took it to the dealer and got a free oil change

How were you able to get the extraction tube all the way down to the bottom of the pan? What OD tube size did you use? I have 2025 Lariat with a 2.7L and the only thing that will fit down the dip stick tube is the dip stick. I have an extractor that looks very much like yours. It came with a long 0.0625-inch diameter wire for presumably testing depth. Not even it will fit down the dip stick tube. Only the flat dip stick makes it. Apparently, Ford changed the size of the dip stick tube. I would love to be able to do an oil change using the extractor.

Mine is a 2024 built in September. It fits down there no problem. There is a stop that it hits then slides in, then you can feel it go all the way down. The dipstick is harder to get it than the tube. I have to have the dipstick go in at a certain angle or it hits something very early in the tube.

So, it seems that I gave up too easily trying to fit the extraction tube into the dipstick tube. I went back and tried again and was able to insert it ten inches beyond the length of the dipstick. That means I probably hit bottom.

At the time of my first oil change, my factory oil level was over full like yours. On the dipstick it was about a quarter of an inch above the high mark. I drained the oil from the pan and got out well over 6 quarts. I put back exactly 6 quarts and now the level on the dipstick is at the high mark. I will be doing another oil change in about 4000 miles using the extractor. I will know then if I got it all if I get 6 quarts out. I'm now looking forward to doing another oil change.

Glad it worked out! There was post on the the bronco forums with a pic of the oil system and the the dipstick stops short of the pan into a check valve/chamber and that’s what is the initial resistance. I marked the tube with the length of the dipstick with a sharpie, then make sure I go past that. I need to make a secondary mark for the bottom of the pan. Just found the pic of the diagram. I was able to go well beyond the bottom of the pan and with the angle of the tube, the tubing will hit the bottom and then bend and continue horizontally on the pan and will be higher than the bottom. When the system was sucking air I would carefully remove the tube until it had good flow. I did this until I couldn’t get more out. With practice and marking the line, I’ll figure out exactly how far I need to insert it.

I saw this cut-away view earlier and thought it was not possible to get past the check valve to the bottom of the pan. Apparently, it is possible to reach bottom. The real proof will be how much oil can be extracted. I will post my results in 4000 miles (probably 8 to 9 months the way I drive).
