I agree. I wonder how much of a final say the engineers really have. We see that with Toyota, with some saying "I am going to follow whatever oil the engineers say the US model needs while the same exact engine has a different oil in Europe due to different politics."They’re bean counter engineers, there job is to always get you to spend money in the repair shop at the ford dealer.. After break in my OCI will be 4k miles
Having worked at a US Big three's finance arm, things are not always what they seem.
Frequent oil changes mean a customer will need to come in more, but that affects potential sales if a competitors says we only need 1/2 the maintenance as the other model you are looking for.
