They’re bean counter engineers, there job is to always get you to spend money in the repair shop at the ford dealer.. After break in my OCI will be 4k miles
I agree. I wonder how much of a final say the engineers really have. We see that with Toyota, with some saying "I am going to follow whatever oil the engineers say the US model needs while the same exact engine has a different oil in Europe due to different politics."

Having worked at a US Big three's finance arm, things are not always what they seem.

Frequent oil changes mean a customer will need to come in more, but that affects potential sales if a competitors says we only need 1/2 the maintenance as the other model you are looking for.

Where are folks getting the FL-2127 oil filter for the 2.3 engine?
I ask as the official Ford site has them listed as sold out.

One on Amazon looks sketchy, seem like some chinese knockoff.

I see a ton on Ebay, but am concerned those may be counterfeit as well.

None of my 3 local auto stores, nor Walmart carries them. Walmart on-line did not either.

I get FL-2127 filters from Rock Auto. I've also gotten them at my local O'Reilly before.
I Bought all my FL-2127 filters from Rock Auto also.

Thank you folks. I saw them on Rock Auto, but have never dealt with them before so wasn't sure if they had legitimate parts or not.

On a tangent --- How can the official Ford site be out of them? Makes no sense to me.

I have heard rock auto is more trustworthy than amazon for car parts/filters.

Does anyone use the 2087A filter? I was thinking about picking those up as they seem to be the most robust. Probably not needed ..

Based on my research as well. Ford stopped making the 2087 with the metal core and the new updated 2087A is a beefier plastic core. Its what is recommended for the GT500

Follow-up. I found the FL-2127 at my local O'Reilly's auto parts after all.

I should have asked at the counter on my first trip in. I simply looked at the shelf and it was not there so I left. But then I found it at O'Reilly's online and the online portal said they did have it. I ordered it online with a store pickup, and it was marked as ready in 10 minutes. They just don't have room to put all their oil filters on the shelves, and I did not realize that.

I like to be able to buy at my local auto parts store. So O'Reilly's it is for me.

That's exactly what happened to me at O'Reilly's. Online said it was in stock but I couldn't find on the shelf. Asked one of the employees and they went and got it from the back.
