I finally got a roof rack and tackled the install. It took a while dropping the headliner but there was actually no drilling required which was a pleasant surprise! The instructions provided with it were atrocious so I made a video to try and help anyone else trying to install a similar rack on their Ranger.

Ranger Raptor step-by-step Roof Rack Install, NO DRILLING REQUIRED... Front Runner SLIMSPORT!

Great video. I'm thinking I will put a roof rack on mine in the future. I'm curious if there is a noticeable increase in wind noise while driving?

I got up to 65 and it is not noticeable but I also do have the entire roof covered in sound deadening and I actually think this helps with the wind noise I was previously hearing from the rack over the bed because this one has that wing on the front.

Right on... you will be able to knock it out. The part two was doing it without taking the headliner all the way down and it was honestly more work than just dropping the whole thing!

Cheers.

Haha, I heard that from your second video. I am going to drop the whole thing because I want to install the sound deadening on the ceiling.

I finished installing mine. I had to use the 6mm spacers so the front fins doesn't touch the roof of the truck. None of the work is hard for this install... just tedious... Ford could of saved us all a lot of time if they simply had the holes threaded with extra metal on the ceiling of the truck... This would make this install from 10 hours to 2 hours or less.

Thank you KayaPayaPigDog for creating this post and doing a youtube video of the install. Your video saved me so much time and not breaking every single clip and connector there is. Hahaha. I really appreciate the hard work you put into video.

Legend! Nicely done for sure! What did you end up doing for the gutter trim with that spacer in there? Did you cut it in front and behind to fit it back in? I was pretty disappointed as well that there are no accessible hard points with threaded holes under the gutter trim for a MUCH easier install!
Also, thanks for the shoutout about my videos, it is very much appreciated. Super happy that people are able to find them useful and save some time and frustration because of them, that’s what YouTube and forums like this are all about!
Cheers.

Well, I used the small spacer they provided for the underneath the gutter trim and I also used there longer spacer that sits on top of the trim. I didn't do any cutting to make them fit right in. I just put the sealant ahead of time and placed the spacer exactly over the hole and they stayed in place.

Are you hearing any wind noise or even "Hooon" noise. I guess with out the lightbar and my camper it sounds like a hurricane above my head and sometimes there is a load hoon noise...

I'm pretty close to pulling the trigger on the Slimsport but I have questions that maybe some of you can weigh in on. I have a topper, and I'd like to add a second rack to the topper for what appears to be a long continuous rack.

Front Runner, now Dometic, has the front runner topper rack kit, but it's a different width (47.7") than the cab rack (45.9"). In the end, that's just under an inch per side that the topper rack is wider.
Probably not an issue, but hopefully I'm not missing anything there. Thoughts???
Also, they say the topper rack is for 5.5' beds, but at 53.1 inches long, it appears to fit perfectly for the 5' bed. The topside of my topper is 53.5" long before it starts to round off at the rear, plus there is another 1.5" gap between topper and cab. At a combined $1,598 it seems hard to beat.

I'm also open to any other rack brands that has a no drill rack + matching topper rack.

I was hoping @TrailRax would release a topper rack to match theirs, but no luck yet.

There is usually a bit of flex between the bed and the cab so if you mount anything between the two racks you run the risk of cracking the weakest link if it flexes (in this case probably the topper) if you keep stuff up top mounted separately there shouldn’t be any problem

yup, absolutely. Everything would be mounted on one or the other. I may not have to worry about it if I can’t find a brand that will work well. Not like we have all the options Toyota owners have with Sherpa and Victory 4x4 etc.
