A few isolated threads exist, but I think it's important to bring this information together.

That being the case, if your Ranger Raptor (or Ranger) has ever shifted drive modes and/or transfer case configurations by itself, please post here.

Include:

1:
Any modifications
2: Any Forscan alterations
3: Tune status, if any
4: Any further pertinent information of which you are aware; such as the drive mode you were in, if you were on the highway, in a parking lot, under braking, etc ...

My personal answers:

1:
No modifications
2: No Forscan alterations
3: No tune
4: The issue has happened at 50mph, 45mph, in a parking lot while parked, and when pulling into my driveway. So far as the knob goes, I put the vehicle into sport a single time, didn't like it, and put it back into normal. The only other time I've touched it has been to get it back out of Baja mode. I do occasionally access sport suspension mode via the steering wheel, but that is the extent of my interaction with the system.

What's happened to me:

A:
It shifted into Baja mode at 45mph under no special conditions.
B: Baja mode was again selected on my way back home, just before pulling into my driveway. At that point, it locked me into 4WD high and disabled traction control entirely.
C: I was idling in a parking lot, and looked up to find it had shifted itself into rock crawl mode.
D: At around 50mph, it shifted modes, and then attempted to shift into low range. Eventually it quit trying.

Ford doesn't seem to think this is an issue. It's about time a singular resource existed to fill with data. I know it's happening on many vehicles. I strongly advise you to bring your Ranger to a dealership but, if you're not going to do that, please post your experience here. This is a critical vehicle system, and dealerships can't fix it.

The only solution is a recall or a massive update, which is NOT going to happen without more input.

This just happened to me not an hour ago. I hadn't driven the truck in about a week. My son and I went to get some food, so I went out and started the car. Didn't get the initial splash screen on the dash and noticed my car was in Rock Crawl mode. Then it switched to Baja before I double tapped my R button which put everything back to my settings. I also noticed that my Radio was set to the Preview Channel for Sirius XM, whereas before it was on a music channel. This was all before I had even taken it out of Park.

Truck drove fine after that, and when I turned the vehicle off and restarted it, it started up normally with no issues.

1. No modifications
2. No Forscan alterations
3. No tune

I have a 24 Lariat. Ive had this exact same issue multiple times. Last one being yesterday afternoon. My truck is 100% stock. It happens at random times, or so it seems. I only drive on standard/default mode.

I’ve also gotten improper shifts, as if the trucks went into limp mode and pressing the gas doesn’t do anything for a few seconds, not sure if its related but still wanted to mention it.

I had it happen once just a few days ago. Only modification aside from cosmetic is the auto start/stop eliminator. Going about 45 it switched from normal to rock crawl mode. First time I've had anything weird happen with the truck at all and I've had it over a year.

My '24 RR has unexpectedly shifted into 4Hi Baja Mode at speeds of 35-45 mph 3 times and indicated into 4L Rock Crawl at 62 mph. Each time I stopped and shut truck off and restarted it.
Truck is stock, no mods to drivetrain or electronics.

I’ve had this happen once, I have a ranger raptor that switched to 4 low in a parking lot. Luckily I was already at a low speed. It also switched the rear locker on. Turned truck off, goggled how to find lockers and turned it off. Had about 7500 miles when this happened. Got almost 17,000 now and only happened that 1 time

Happened to me once on my raptor switched to Baja mode on its own. Zero mods. R mode randomly quits working.

Quick question, do you have automatic sync updates switched on?
I'll have to check.

I don't have the app, and "Connected Services" are turned off. I'm not cool with data collection and and/or brokerage of any kind that can be avoided, but that's another discussion.

I simply request all updates when I drop it off at the dealership, which has been quite frequently.

I haven't had that issue, but I have started the truck and the Sirius music channel switched to a sports channel, similar to what Cyrric said. This has only happened once but made me wonder what was next.

This has happened to me.

1: Top hat spacer lift (2" front, 1" rear), 35" tires. No engine modifications.
2: No Forscan alterations
3: Ford Performance tune, changed tire size with tuner.
4: Accelerating on the freeway onramp the truck switch into Baja mode at about 70mph. It did not switch into 4H, the truck probably has a safety built in to prevent a 4H shift at 70mph. I switched it back to normal mode quickly.

Happens to me pretty frequently. It seems to come in waves, it will happen constantly for a few days to a week and then it won't happen again for months. I have had it try to switch into Baja 5+ times in a single 15 minute trip on multiple occasions. My truck is pretty modified but it happened when it was bone stock as well. Doesn't seem to be a lot of rhyme or reason to it.

A brief interlude:

If you're having this problem, report it to your dealership. That's the only way it will be solved.

I just spoke with Ford again. They've got nothing on this.

Now, back to recounting your tales of woe.
