Good Raptor side step insert recommendations?

Just came back from a trip and saw a lot of wet loose gravel blasted the side of my doors. I didn’t care much for those inserts but thinking about getting some now as I’m trying to protect my black paint at least from rock chips. Would prefer some metal ones as most of them appear to plastic.

This weekend I took two metal signs, drilled holes in it to match the bolt holes under the step, used a rubber spray coating it and bolted them between the bracket and step with the OEM BOLTS. Since I had it all laying around, it was completely free and still allows water to drain out. Not professional by any means, but i didn’t want to pay $50 for shipping on the Australian ones
