Detailer found this HUGE gash and dent in between the cab and bed from factory.

I was having my new Ranger Raptor detailed and ceramic coated and my detailer called me to point out this HUGE gash and dent he found in the area between the bed and cab. He told me to call my dealer right away so they could figure out how to go about getting that fixed up. Then he could put a ceramic coat on it afterwards. He said he’d be worried about rust developing. Anyone else find something like this on their BRAND NEW truck?

Me too. They already need to give me a new steering wheel as there are defects on it. Now this …

Overall I’m loving the truck but this stuff is inexcusable and annoying.

Yep. No idea how that even happens. Maybe the bed fell out of place during assembly?

There’s a little rip on the steering wheel towards the top. Of course my hand always finds it. Didn’t notice it until I was actually driving home with the truck in my normal driving position. For a $60k midsize truck that is unacceptable.

So far the dealer has been great with offering to fix everything. Haven’t heard from them about this gash yet though.

Yea looks like the bed was misaligned and struck that area during assembly line install.
I'm guessing they remove the bed weld it and sand smooth, then respray the area hopefully to a unnoticeable repair.

Yea looks like the bed was misaligned and struck that area during assembly line install.
I'm guessing they remove the bed weld it and sand smooth, then respray the area hopefully to a unnoticeable repair.

No. He checked the other side and nothing. Not sure it was a tool mark as there is also a dent in there as well. That’s why I’m thinking the bed was out of alignment and hit it.

Are you sure that's a gash? Can you actually feel a cut in the metal? To me it looks like someone marked the dent with a marker at assembly, and QC let it pass.
