Why won’t the diesel version make it to the US market. Probably good if you pulling. If they can put a diesel in a car I’m sure they can put in that pickup. It won’t compete with the RR. And it’s still a Dodge.

Wow it's uglier than I expected. The interior looks GM, the exterior sort of does too. Ick. I'm a big fan of Ram, Jeep, and Dodge but this has to look totally different for the U.S. market or it's a no for me.

Yeah, they should've taken more TRX design.

My first mid size truck was a Dakota, I really liked that truck.
At the time the Dakota was the only mid-size that offered a v8.

I would consider a new Dakota if they offer a v8 in it.
Same as I would trade both my Ranger Raptors if Ford offered them with a v8.

With the rumors being the new US Dakota will be built alongside the Gladiator, and they already have a 392 Hemi v8 in a Jeep wrangler, I don’t see it being that much of a stretch for there to be a new v8 Dakota in the works.

ā€˜This was my new 2008 V8 4x4 Dakota Laramie taken back in early 2009.

I 100% agree, hopefully the US Dakota looks more like the Ram TRX .

The TRX was an awesome looking and running truck.
ā€˜I switched to the Ranger more for smaller physical size then anything.
I do miss the sound of that awesome supercharged Hemi v8.

Emissions. More to the point, no one wants a diesel in the US that has US required diesel emissions equipment in any vehicle unless nothing else will do.

I love diesels. I don't want a US spec diesel. If I regularly had to do heavy towing, I'd get a diesel because there's no other reasonable choice.

Looks like they slapped a RAM logo on a Honda Ridgeline and called it a day

I feel ya, I came from a 2014 F150 Supercab Raptor to the RR. As much as I want the Raptor R, it's just too big, maybe if it had the shorter supercab. Shame they remove the supercab option, it's much sportier.

I too love diesels. I have had several over the years. They are easier to maintain and cheaper if you do the work yourself. Keep clean fuel, oil, and air they run forever. They not only get way better mpg’s they have way more torque. Like you said, for towing you can’t beat them. We agree. You are also correct about emissions with US diesels. The new diesels need to be driven at least 7500 miles every 3 months. When I didn’t drive my diesel enough the DEF fluid would go bad and cause emission problems. The pre 2015 diesels could have DEF systems remover and instantly got 15-20% fuel mileage.
The point that evidently I failed to make was that they won’t compete with RR. The RR is an entry level performance truck that most people can afford to drive. I love driving mine and it didn’t cost a $100K+ to buy. The new Dakota might compete with a regular Ranger, but it’s still a Dodge and will probably sticker for an extra $10K. So will it be a rival and compete with the Ranger? I’ve owned lots of 3/4t Fords and Chevys , but only 1 Dodge. Cheers!
