Update: Heard nothing this Wednesday morning. Called the salesman at 9:30 and asked for an update. Answer while he was obviously walking outside fast was "Umm...they were working on a trade yesterday (Tuesday). I'll go to the order manager and get right back to you." Yesterday? That was after on Monday he told me they were working on two trucks and would get back to me Monday close of business. Never did. So, after this morning's call he has not called back, text, or emailed even to say nothing is happening. This is familiar, as per my last dealer. We are now at 28 different VIN, batting 0 for 28. I did price my truck trade this morning with CARMAX. They will graciously give me $31K which is $11.4K below Edmunds, KBB, and JD Powers. They want $58K for a 2024 RR in Hot Pepper Red in OKC with 7K miles and a rip in the leather that needs repair. The price is $1000 higher than normal, because "Hot Chili Pepper is rare and popular." Yep, so popular that Ford dropped it in 2025 and did not bring it back in 2026. The airbag recall has not been fixed, the OKC CARMAX hasn't taken it to a local Ford dealer, so they can't sell it anyway.

@Oceaneagle, sounds like the same circus I'm dealing with. I don't have to buy so I won't not unless it suits me.

I had my fingers crossed for yea.
I was afraid that was going to happen.
Ever since all the COVID inventory shortages, dealers all but quit working with one another on dealer trades. I thought maybe that was easing up a bit with the inventory levels being healthier now days.

Especially with new vehicles, it is just my guess that Dealers learned during the COVID inventory shortages that there are a lot of people now days willing to travel or buy remotely to get what they want. Which I know there are lots of dealers that offer free delivery or paid delivery or various other things to get people to buy from long distances. I think they essentially think if they refuse the dealer trade, that the good chance that consumer may just call and buy direct from them.

I was buying long distance to get what I wanted long before COVID but seems it has gotten a lot more common now days. With there being lot of tools available on the net to make finding the exact vehicle much easier these days.

I also suspected. Dealers are also good at hiding Window Stickers in the exclusive Ford system and also doing the Special Order gimmick so the sticker is Green, not Blue. The issue of course for traveling to buy is trade in. I am not at that point in life to drive 1000 miles round trip or more with my trade in truck, along with meals and hotels and gas and an aching body. And I won't take delivery of something I have not seen. As to selling outright, CARMAX low balled about 1/4 of the actual value, while jacking up the value on a used vehicle now two model years old and still under a stop sale recall. So, I will give this Wichita dealership one more day and then I will call Long McArthur in Salina and see what they can do. After that, three Ford dealers should do it, Strike 1, Strike 2, and Strike 3. Done and dusted.

This one is showing to be in inventory at dealer less then 100 miles out from Wichita.
Might be worth a call and try and make your deal with the dealer that has it.

This might be the one the local dealer was trying to get dealer traded for you.

It shows in stock on the Ford website and on the dealer's website.

Don't think so. Ruby Red, 2.7L, Black leather interior, Black Appearance, FX4, trailer tow any level. I found six Nationwide...but we can't drive that far anymore to trade in, even to Colorado or South Dakota. It would take us three days to Denver and four to South Dakota. I used to do that in one.

I thought you said the other day you didn't want the black trim on red.
I think there was one in red with black trim FX4 in or somewhere around the OKC area.
My bad.
I will see if I can find that one again.

These are pretty close.
They get further out the further down the page.

I am showing 16 of them out there within 500 miles all lariats with 2.7L all with black interiors.

There is only 3 in under 200 miles out.

I saw one a month or more at Confidence Ford. Sent that VIN to Conklin in Newton but would not trade. Also some of the trucks have some options I want but not all.

These are all likely to be the trucks your dealers have been shot down on for dealer trades.
Most likely would have to get them direct from the dealer that has it.

I am sure the dealer saw these in the locator and was turned down.

Dang man, sure shouldn't be so hard to make it happen! Hope it ends up working out!

Today I visited a second dealer a little farther from me. Think I am going to end up ordering a '26 Shelter Green RR. Unlike the last dealer who wanted 5K more, this one has no problem at MSRP. Non-bead lock rims, spray in liner and mud flaps. Considering the keypad and Perimeter Plus security. Any thoughts on those 2 items??
