So what exactly is put on RR that allows 4A but not on the other levels? My F150 Lariat has 4A and the manual recommends using it for example during heavy rain instead of 4H or 4L except in certain conditions. Cost is a factor but to me if Ranger had one 4A compatible system across all levels it would make things easier for Ford to manufacture.

I guess the Raptor uses a clutch mechanism which must be much more expensive since the equally pricy Canyon Denali and Tacoma TRD Pro are the only segment trucks know to have gotten 4 auto.

Edit: for the last gen Canyon 4 Auto was only Denali, but it looks like the latest gen has 4 Auto on all trims AND both the Canyon and Colorado have ventilated seats.

I really tend towards the GM twins but the Ranger supports self-driving Openpilot.

Toyota limited hybrid model also has auto

Didn't know the GM twins had it. I see brand new Colorado driving up my street every morning. Good looking truck.

@oceaneagle It is interesting the things that are common across models and specific to models. You can see Ford and all manufacturers strive to have commonality across trims and then make what I think are some odd choices for unique features

maybe in the Ranger refresh 4A will make it to other trims

We can hope. My wife has AWD on her 2024 Escape Hybrid and traded up from a non-AWD. I noticed the difference immediately and it has the same gas mileage as her 2020. At least the unused button for 4A is there.
