Anyone else experienced this? A car wash not only pulled the wip off the roof, but the entire assembly, including the wiring. Roof is damaged, bent, and there is a hole.

This is a new one to me. Car wash "says" they will take care of it, but then told me there was a disclaimer against damaging "Shark fin" antennas.

They're required to take care of it regardless of any disclaimers they may have if there's any type of negligence. The fact that it ripped a hole tells me that something is amiss with their equipment.

Let them take care of it and if they push back, get a lawyer, I'm sure they'll cave quickly.

You know how many new vehicles have shark fin style antennas? Nearly all of them. They can say whatever they want about their disclaimers, but if they never provided you the disclaimers up front they're on the hook. Even then, disclaimers don't mean anything when it comes to gross negligence. It's a tactic to prevent you from going after them, but legally they're in the wrong.

If they have not posted signs or given you the disclaimer in writing, their insurance pays. If not, get a lawyer. Also, call your local TV station and tell them what is going on. That car wash owner does not want bad publicity or a court appearance. You can also talk to your insurance agent and get free advice without filing a claim.

There was absolutely something amiss with the equipment. The young guy that was running the shop mentioned they had to adjust something because it had happened before.

Them admitting to it happening before and that it's still happening is proof of negligence. Any court would rule in your favor because of this alone.

If we never listen to AM or FM radio do we even need that antenna? The satellite must have it's own, and what about the Ford OTA signals? If we don't need it someone could come up with a plug kit. It gets in the way of some of the rooftop campers anyway.

That hurts! I thought long and hard about car washes and how to keep it clean. I decided on a PPF for front, hood and front fenders and covered it all with a ceramic coating. I used Xpel and the quality is 5 star! It is pricy but I think will be worth it. I was told the coating will be much easier to keep clean and use a touchless car wash. The PPF is guaranteed for 10 years and the ceramic coating for 4 years (once a year visit for an inspection and boost).

It is my first time with these types of coatings so I'll post on how it cleans and wears.
