Now that it was time to try to order, the dealership is unable to get most of the options. They did say some of the 16" steel options were available, but I was worried about how that might change the ride height. I want to tow my trailer still, and I have a fixed 6" drop bar on it now.

Since you went with the 16's how did you find it impacted the trucks stance and ground clearance?

They did give some options of going to a Duratrac RT or a KO3 in an LT. Not sure I want to do that.
I guess that was the setup ford recommended for the ranger. Tire has a wider sidewall so I'd assume it'll be relatively similar. They still haven't phoned me to get them put on yet so I can't be any help to that yet lol.
All I know is those stock Goodyears are decent in snow but we had our first -25°C day here and those tires turned into rocks.

Thanks Kirkster89, I found similar things last winter with them. They weren't terrible, but definitely not great.

Four 17” alloys in close to new condition delivered to your door for US$320 plus tax, that is unbeatable. The seller has plenty.

You will have to see if he ships to Canada….. most likely the shipping cost would be additional.

Buying a different diameter wheel will not alter your ground clearance if you pick a tire size that matches the diameter of your current ones, but a skinnier tread is better in winter - it has a higher contact pressure which helps with traction a little.

Thanks John,

That seems like a good price, its the 40% exchange and shipping that would likely kill it. Not to mention potential tariffs. I'll probably have to find something on my side of the line to keep the costs somewhat in line.

Finally got them! I totally forgot to roll the other tires side by side to compare the size difference. Id assume it's relatively similar as I passed a speed sign and it read the same as the old tires. Unless the dealership recalibrated the speedo (I highly doubt that).

Also is it just me? I personally find these steelies look pretty sick on the truck!!

I am not sure what to say on those rims. I would have preferred black, but those silver ones are not offensive. :)

Do you tow at all? I was concerned about the ride height changing going down the 2 inches in rim size.

Let me know how those tires perform, we have the same color and trim levels, so its a true comparison. lol

Go test them out in the blizzard. It hasn't arrived here yet.

Hahahahaha really? I've personally grown tired of the black steelies as it seems that's what they all are on anything and everything lately. I got excited when I found out they were silver hahahaha. It's a little different. Although rust will eventually show better on these... Oh well.

Not likely to tow much in the winter. When I get home I'll roll the 18's next to the 16's I don't think there's much of a difference in actual wheel size so ride hight shouldn't change much. (I don't feel any lower)

Got them just in time it's a blizzard today! I've already noticed a huge difference. Traction control hasn't kicked in yet. With the stocks it would all the time coming from a light/stop sign.

The silver is more old school, what I would expect on the Ranger classic.

If you can measure that would be great, give me something else to consider, there are probably way more 16" winter tire options.

Blizzard is supposed to start up here tonight, freezing rain now, so should be fun times later on.

If they drove up a hill that steep, I’d say they’re working well!

Just google “tire size calculator” and plug in the details for your current tires and for the tires you’re considering. Many of them will tell you directly how it affects diameter/height/speedo accuracy.

I'd say the winters (265/70R16) are about .5-1" smaller.

We are definitely getting the easier part of that blizzard! No freezing rain just a bit of snow and wind. Nothing like south of Saskatoon. Be careful out there! Lol

Well supposed to be 1/2” smaller diameter according to wheel calculators.

i like the silver steelies

i have become less of a fan of black things because it is hard to see them.

must be getting old.
