New to Rangers and during my research every YouTube video showed a much smaller electronic gear selector for lariats and the 2.7. I found one I am going to get later this week and it has the shifter I see in xl/xlt and the dealer says Ford got rid of it except for the Raptor. I like it and I think it's because the active park assist was supposedly removed in 2025 (according to Chat). Or am I being mis lead and should keep looking ? My window sticker is below

Dealer is correct and only the raptor has the eshifter for 2025

And there is no auto park or automatically shifting into park.

I thought I read somewhere in the world someone had the regular shift and auto park. So may not be related

i have the p button and just pops up a menu to find a parking spot

waste of a button 😃

I liked the look of the 2024 shifter better than the 2025; however, when I actually tried it out (I bought a 2025), I liked the 2025 shifter. It's high enough to make it a very comfortable resting place for my hand. Not sure if the prior version would have allowed that.

That’s right, AFAIK…
My 24 Lariat has the small computer mouse shifter, and the park assist functions -
Park assist is cool, but only if you’ve got 10 minutes to back into a spot. It’s SUPER slow. I’m sure because it’s NOT going to hit anything, so it’s very cautious. I wouldn’t make a buying decision on having it at all…. The shifter itself is more user friendly than I expected at first, a very convenient spot to rest a hand and easy to manipulate.

Exactly this. I don’t know how trucks with different shifters feel, but really like being able to rest my elbow on the center console and my palm on the shifter. They’re the same height and it’s quite comfortable.

Also helpful to rest your palm on it and adjust the hvac or heated seat and wheel on screen.

Another benefit I discovered to the regular shifter is if you're off-roading or working and need to change gears quickly electronic shifters decide, not you. Also on my cars with electronic shifters like the G70 no neutral without the car running.

Also most electronic shifters slam you into park when the door is opened, not great if you need to lean your neck out and look at the ground when maneuvering.

This drove me crazy on my last truck, a RAM 1500. Occasionally when hooking up to a trailer, I might have to hop back in the truck to move it just an inch to get the trailer hitch to seat correctly. I had gotten in the habit of doing it quick, with the door open, my butt barely on the seat. But the RAM would never let me do it--every time, it would auto-shift back to park, then set the emergency brake. Kinda frustrating.

Stellantis make Auto Park mandatory after a few families suffered tragedies where little kids got run over by people jumping out without putting the vehicle in park. I understand why they responded that way, but it is definitely annoying.

if you search the forum, I think you'll find for most people the short stubby eshifter was not a popular choice. It takes some getting used to as it's kind of cumbersome to your hand - you just have to try it to see what I mean. I have it, I'm totally used to it, and it's not a problem, but I'd say the more normal shifter is more intuitive.

What I do like about the short stubby shifter is that it is very intuitive to use the integrated manual shift options. I have to use those daily coming out of my driveway. Our driveway is long and at just the "wrong" angle for virtually any automatic, always hunting for the right gear, so I use manual mode every day to get up to the road, then switch back into auto. Works very intuitively with this shifter.

My 25 Raptor shifts into park if you open door and seat belt is unbuckled. I have the short e shifter.

Thanks for the insight and I have to say even when I test drive it my elbow was on the console and palm on the shifter. I just pulled the trigger and will pick it up soon. Going from a Lincoln Navigator L to the is Ranger so smaller is an understatement but I like new cars and these intrigue me.
