EDIT: It's a Sync 4a Thank you everyone.

Hello, all.
I live in the Desert of Arizona and radio stations are far and wide apart. I've used Sirius for years and years. My brand new 2025 Ranger XL is not equipped. I've found a unit that will work with a 4a radio. That unit is about 350 dollars or so and I'd rather be sure than deal with a return.
My endgame is; I'm trying to add an aftermarket SiriusXM radio to my truck as it's not equipped. I bought the truck 2 days ago. I've spent hours this morning on the web/youtube trying to sort out if I have a Sync 4 or 4a radio. The dimensions are 9.5" tall, and 6" wide. That alone tells me nothing when trying to sort this. The web wants to tell me about radios in other vehicles, even if I state Ranger, or how to enable stuff I don't care about. Frustrating.

This maybe is obvious to some, but I'm lost. When in the radio/about Sync it tells me this for software version: SYNC 4 Software Version: 25017_PRODUCT, revision: 1586. It goes on to tell me what the MAC and other connectivity addresses are.

Help ?

congrats on the truck! I don't know enough about model year and trim levels to answer sync4 vs 4a. is CarPlay or android auto an option? I have sirius app on my phone and it plays music from the phone into the car speakers via CarPlay. That way no need for truck or stereo to connect to the sirius service.

Thanks ! I love it. I lose connection with my phone a lot out here. I have unlimited data, but without a connection, music wont work. I could probably add a USB with music as a means, but I'd rather have the satellite radio.

In scouring the internet, it appears that all Rangers have SYNC 4A. 4A is designed for the vertical screen that we have unlike the F150 which has the horizontal screen.
The XLT and above have the connected maps and Sirius radio but the XL/STX doesn't.
Hope that helps.

Measure the screen corner to corner if it is over 12 inches you're more than likely Sync4a. As I understand it 12 inches and under are 4. I did find this Ford built data as of 7/25 says all are 4a.

I don't believe that is accurate. I could be wrong but I've seen posts say thats false.

All Rangers have Sync4A. I have confirmed this on the Ford website and with my local dealer (Planet Ford - top 3 Ford dealer in the nation).
I have an XLT witj the smaller screen and have 4A.

Ok - ALL Rangers have Sync4a. XL to Raptor. The 4a is specific for all Ford vehicles that have a vertical oriented screen (Mach e, Ranger, Expedition, etc..)
4a is because, unlike the F150, the vertical screen can be set up with movable tiles and other customer driven customizations.
So, we ALL have 4a.
