Ford perimeter alarm system

I finally got around to purchasing the Ford perimeter alarm and installed it but it doesn't seem to be working. The unit seems to have installed correctly and the seems to be recognized by the truck. The doors locked/unlocked when the ignition was cycled. But when I lock the truck and test the alarm (trying to open the doors, pound fairly hard on the windows/doors), nothing happens. I tried turning the sensativity down to the lowest setting but it didn't help. Did I miss something? Is there a way I can tell if its arming (different alert with the lights it should be doing when I lock the truck?). Thanks!

Did you also go through the vss enable instructions in the guide? It's a bunch ignition cycles and door open/ closes that finally end in a series of honks when you hit the brake pedal? You want the double honk. (Just looked and it's steps 18-27 in the manual I posted earlier).

It also takes about 30 seconds for the alarm to engage after you lock the truck. Not sure if you also installed the led, but it will go from solid to blinking.

Thanks for the quick reply. I did not go through the VSS steps. From the various videos I watched with other Fords ( couldn't find one of the ranger) it didn't seem like it was necessary. I will try it tomorrow. I did not get the LED as I didn't know were I would put it. I am second guessing that decision now and will probably order it later this week.

Steps 18-27 resolved the issue. Thank you again. Now I just need to adjust the sensitivity and/or the unit's location. It's not as sensitive as I would like, but it's working. I have it zip-tied to a crossbar in the dash just above the glove box.

This is where I have mine wedged. Seems reasonably sensitive and leaves the sensitivity knob accessible. Hasn't moved since I put it there even though it's not attached in any way lol.

For those who have installed it, is there a way to temporarily disable it, possibly from the Sync4 screen? I can think of a few times I may not want it on, such as camping in a windy campground.

There's supposed to be a "valet mode." I read about it somewhere. If I find it I'll post it up. Turns out I was dead wrong there is no valet mode for the perimeter plus only for the Sync system. Ford instructs you to turn down the sensitivity on the shock sensor!

I tried to order mine through OEM but they were on backorder. I ended up getting it cheaper from eBay. $215 Shipped! But, I'm waiting for it now.

Dealer installation was quoted as $220 in the add on section if you do a Ford build on the Raptor.

I received mine today and according to the owners manual you can disable the shock sensor by taking the following steps:
1. Turn the ignition key off and remove key (push to start turn off vehicle)
2. Within 15 seconds open the drivers door
3. Within 15 seconds press the unlock button on your RKE Keyfob 3 times.
4. within 5 seconds press the lock button on your RKE Keyfob 1 time.
The horn will honk two times. If you have the LED it will illuminate for 20 seconds, after which the security system will arm without the shock sensor. The shock sensor will remain disabled until the ignition is cycled ON then Off.

I installed the Ford Perimeter Alarm System. As mentioned earlier, find a good spot to mount it so you can get to it to make sensitivity adjustments. If having it dealer installed, make sure they do not hide it.
I just purchased (arrived on 12/2) the LED Anti-theft flasher (without installation) from Levittown (SAVE50SHIP saves 50% on shipping).
It has been out of stock for months.
I also attempted to purchase this from my dealer without the installation cost and they could not figure out how to. Not sure why FORD requires $70 installation on the LED.
Now I have to figure out where to install the LED flasher (any suggestions/photos?).
