I can't really advise anybody what could happen on any potential future warranty claim, given this information. I would say if installing the tune, follow FP's guidelines to the letter, and have that receipt ready if challenged by any service manager anywhere. The tech I talked to did have a...
After learning some new details I am going to have to apologize to you guys for spreading information which is not entirely accurate regarding the tune and any potential warranty issues which may arise.
1st: Any dealership which receives your vehicle for service WILL KNOW in no uncertain...
I am going to have to apologize to the RR community at this point, as I may have stated some things regarding the FP tune and how it relates to warranty coverage which are inaccurate. I will post the details in the other thread
EDIT...
I would think (just me thinking), that the initial firmware updates, the saving of the stock cal, and the loading of the performance cal onto the tool, could all be done ahead or time so that literally all the tech has to do is plug in the tool, select programming>performance cal and hit ok. O...
We took mine on a 160mi round trip this weekend. Mileage seemed about the same, but did not hand calculate. Only have 2kmi on mine so far, and I have read that mileage improves over the 1st 5k or so
This is what I have been trying to explain...it's just a CYA. There is no way to incorrectly install the tune, and the tune has been well tested and safe for stock RR components I am sure. Save the receipt purely in case you are hassled by a service manager who is looking for a way out of any...
You should clarify if those were claims which were submitted and then bounced, or if the service mgr just refused to warranty them. Doesn't sound like bounced claims to me
You sir are a MADMAN! LOL I took the Bronco to a car show this weekend (local 4x4 club wanted to show off some of our stuff), and the 1st thing everybody looking at it said was "bet that voided the warranty"! AFAIK the warranty is still good, the local service manager has looked at it, and he...
Too soon to tell, but I wouldn't expect any real world change. Driving habits will affect mileage more than the tune. Of course right after installing it you are gonna put your foot in it to try it out (I know I did!)
I guess what I am saying is IDK how a tech in the field accesses that information. I guess for those who are super paranoid, just order a new PCM and have it flashed stock. If your truck has to go in under warranty just install that one? I have used FP tunes in the past and I am confident...
I'm a wrench, not a software guy. I have only flashed tunes that I got from other sources, or changed a few parameters w/editors and relashed. What I think I'm saying is the guy who is gonna have to work on it under warranty doesn't do that stuff either...but who knows, I'm getting older and I...
Ign cycle will reset to 1 when battery is disconnected, don't think that proves a thing. I have never seen a "flash counter" on any Ford product, or really any vehicle I have ever worked on...can't say I ever really looked either. Some of the guys I worked with in my dealership days are still...
I have never seen nor heard of such a thing, and I have worked in this industry since I graduated HS in 1989. Not saying it doesn't exist, just would have thought I would have heard of such a thing by now. I think you guys are a little paranoid? If this tin hat stuff is too much for...
