Not wanting to trigger those of you who are patiently waiting for your Rangers (extra sympathy to our NA friends) but I thought I'd just post up a quick pic of my Raptor which was delivered yesterday (27 April) and quickly run over my purchasing experience.
I ordered back on 17 June 2022 and...
In Australia, wheel spacers are illegal though some people don't seem to care and just use them anyhow. I believe in Germany they have TUV approved wheel spacers so maybe you will be OK in Romania.
Wheel spacers will put more load on your wheel bearings and probably a whole lot more but it is...
Nope! Some vehicles were found to have seeds on them from being parked in storage after manufacture and before being loaded onto the ships. Quarantine in Melbourne have said that all cars need to undergo a deep clean before they can be released. Interestingly, cars from the same ships which...
I'm only a single data point so you really need to consult the various reviews around about the place (look for Australian reviews on YouTube as they have been out in Aus for more than 6 months now and have been reviewed by every man, woman and dog - some channels to look for are CarExpert...
Yes, the interior fit-out is completely different but the shared cabin structure with the 5g will determine the basic size and shape and hence seat spacing and relationship to pedals and steering wheel. Given this, I think it is a pretty safe bet that if the driving position of the 5g suits you...
5g = T6 platform
6g = T6.2 platform
What does this mean? Well, the two platforms are very similar and the cabin is shared between the two - same doors, same roof, same windscreen etc.
So I'd say that if the size and shape of the 5g suits your needs then so too will the 6g.
Buy a Ranger in Australia?
More seriously though, Australia is extremely strict on weights and measures of vehicles so it is a really big thing if you overload any of your carrying capacities. Maybe that is why Ford Aus spec. it higher for seemingly the same thing. To compete in this market...
The distance between the wheel arches is definitely wider - will now fit a Euro sized pallet. All the Aussie bed cover suppliers list different covers for the next-gen Ranger so I'm guessing the answer to your question is "no".
@wolfrough it would be valuable to compare the logs from your 212kW tune to the 292kW tune we have in Aus.
These guys (Berrima Diesel) have tuned an interceptor (DPChip) on the dyno so they might be able to help you out with logs of the un-modified car.
Also this guy in New Zealand has been...
@bill_AUS do you know if the Bronco, Mustang, Focus etc. use the same ECU as the RR? I would presume so, so if those guys haven't cracked it yet then there is still a way to go for the RR.
In the BMW world (N55), for many years the best you could hope for was a JB4 piggy-back system but after...
Every time a new car is released "they" say that the ECU is locked and can't be modified... Then after a short while someone works it out and then more people work it out and before you know it, everyone is doing it. It was the same when I first bought my N55 powered BMW, now I have an app on...
Not sure. I'm not a huge fan just yet. I'd prefer something that mounts in front of the grill and preferably as high as possible. Above the FORD lettering would be good.
I've looked around and I can't find any decent Australian Next Gen (6G) ranger forums that are worth frequenting. This one is the best I have found, has good members who post relevant things without all the BS - it is just lacking the volume required to make it more interesting.
Seems like...
OK, Aus not North America but I would like:
Seat cooling (already comes with seat heating)
Head-up display
240V power in the cab and tray (our standard power is 240V
160lt fuel tank
Attachment points for roof bars
A bed that actually seals against water and dust
A phone hang-up button on the...
