  1. DREAM FEATURE REQUEST FOR THE RAPTOR: MANUAL TRANSMISSION!

In some instances, I miss the ability to go into compound gear, or put the transfer case into 4 low without locking in the hubs and put the transmission in 3rd gear and just creep along on a mountain trail. I wouldn’t trade compound gear for the 10 speed auto though. I can still put my truck in...
  2. That moment your Ranger stopped being just a tool – let’s hear your story

My ranger is my daily driver. So most days it’s pretty mundane. This week there were brief moments of excitement with elk on the shoulder of the road. Sorry, no pictures, was too busy worrying if one of them was going to run in front of me and end up on my dash. I like to ā€œrechargeā€ myself with...
  3. 2024 XLT Ranger: Lake Nockamixon in Pennsylvania

Sounds like a great day. How was the fishing?
  4. Liking my Michelin Bed liner

I didn’t check the weight of it, but I’d guess it’s under 20lbs. I put the bed mat in over my spray in bed liner and it fits snugly but not everly snug. It would be easy to remove it and put it back in the box if you don’t want to keep it in permanently.
  5. DREAM FEATURE REQUEST FOR THE RAPTOR: MANUAL TRANSMISSION!

To each his own, but my knees don’t miss holding the clutch in at stop lights. I don’t miss changing out the clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing either. Auto transmissions have come a long way since yhe 70’s when I learned to drive. They are a lot more reliable and better at 4 wheeling...
  6. New(ish) 2025 XLT

Nice looking truck. Congratulations. Welcome to the Forum from New Mexico. šŸ¤
  7. Driver door entrance

I put a set of the ā€œstep styleā€ running boards on my previous truck. They would hang up on any ledge drop off I crossed. I’m not a fan of them myself. They hang too low for even mild off roading IMO.
  8. Driver door entrance

I don’t have a problem. I’m 6’1ā€ and 185 lbs. I don’t use the running boards or the steering wheel. I do tilt my head to the left before I enter. A technique I started when I had my 16 tacoma.
  9. Ranger is 2nd most reliable midsize truck in Consumer Reports latest reliability report

Yes, marketed at 80 yr old ladies, so they can cary their oxygen bottles to bingo night.
  10. Liking my Michelin Bed liner

Here’s a link to the product on Amazon. For the price, it’s inexpensive bed and cargo protection...
  11. Liking my Michelin Bed liner

A couple of weeks ago, I got a free Michelin Bed liner by posting in @TreadAuto's post on Michelin floor mats: https://www.ranger6g.com/forum/threads/michelin-mats-protector-giveaway-what-have-you-done-to-your-ranger-recently.28787/ The mat showed up on my front porch a few days later. I...
  12. Ranger is 2nd most reliable midsize truck in Consumer Reports latest reliability report

62/100 is still a sad score IMO, it does bode well for the 6G rangers to have boosted the rating after only one year on the new gen. Yes we are seeing a lot of recalls, but the good news is we are getting the recalls versus the issues just being swept under the rug. Toyota’s pride has to be...
  13. What did you do WITH your 6G Ranger today?

I think I might have gotten a mean Ranger. It’s only taking me to work lately I’m going to sit it down and have a talk with it this weekend. If it doesn’t take me to a mountain or lake soon, I’m going to put it on an 86 octane diet. 😜
  14. Ford Midsize EV Pickup - First Look at Bed / Bed Rails

Maybe is should be called the Ford Sancho.
  15. Recovery Gear

One thing I’ve seen overlooked, especially when not 4wheeling as a group, is emergency gear, when retrieval isn’t available soon. I live and play in the rocky mountain west. 4 wheeling often means high elevations and being prepared to stay overnight might be necessary before help is available. A...
  16. Ford App

I guess it’s not free if you take into account that you have to buy a Ford vehicle to make it useful. But it doesn’t cost you anything to download the app onto your phone. I’m not a big fan of apps as many are loaded with spyware and are prone to have security and privacy issues. But that’s a...
  17. Looking at ditch light options.

I’d prefer something mounted to the grill, but was wondering if that option would give me adequate side vision. It might work if the beam was wide enough.
  18. Looking at ditch light options.

I’m looking at lighting options to illuminate more to the right and left sides than the stock oem lights do. Though they are really effective, I don’t really like the aesthetics of the a pillar mounted lights. Even in the summer, its dark on my way to work and in the winter, its dark coming...
  19. Got My Rhino Liner Yesterday!

Looks great. They took the time to remove the tie downs and panels before applying the liner too. Just like they are supposed to.
  20. Where's the 2026 Trailer Brake Control Plug?

I’m not positive on the lariat package, but on the XLT, the harness connector isn’t there unless you got the advanced tow package, which also gets you the integrated trailer brake controller.
