SO got my 2026 ranger STX FX4 a couple of weeks ago and have put 2200km on it already. I noticed in the morning when I leave for work I get a harsh shift going from 1 to 2 almost like not enough fluid. Would also notice weird shifts after warmed up too. did some research at work on my lunch break and found this video of some Ranger Raptors in Australia (cant find the vid at the moment). They mentioned that they top up the transmission fluid before doing their tune due to delayed shifts. Very Interesting!

This morning I went under with a 19 mm wrench and undid the bolt and checked the dip stick. Noticed that it was just above the 4th dot. Grabbed a unopened bottle off mercon ULEV transmission fluid that was left over from when I did a service on my maverick, got a fluid pump and pumped 3 times to add in fluid. Put everything back together and went for a drive. Noticed transmission is a lot smoother shifting now.

Note: I did this while the transmission was cold as I didn't want to burn myself following the procedure of warming up the transmission.

Note 2: If you check it with the engine cold, the fluid draining back into the pan will show a false, heavily overfilled reading.

I have not done a transmission relearn with forscan at the moment.

Use this knowledge at your own risk. I have been working on Trucks/Cars now on my own for over 20 years.
