Hey Everyone,
Due to my past issues with the 10R80 in my first gen ranger, I'm starting to get concerned about my harsh reverse engagement. When shifting into reverse if I don't let the truck sit for a minute or two, I get a very harsh and delayed reverse engagement. The truck has 3,800 miles on it and I'm concerned this is occurring with so little mileage. No other issues with the trans so far but this is what started with my 1st gen Ranger before the trans failed. Has anyone else experienced the same thing in the 10r60?

Started happening to me, too. It's in the shop now for transmission diagnostic.

Watch your tach from startup. Mine will run at around 1300rpm for the first minute then drop to 700 or so. If shifting during the higher rpm it will certainly feel much different.

Hi,
I have the UK version of the new Raptor and had an issue with the hard reverse engagement problem which results in a shunt and a metallic clunk from the gearbox.
I booked it in with my local dealer today (03/19/26) and was told that the software upgrades that they made to the gearbox didn't fix the problem and that they needed to do further diagnostics. I rebooked it to go in again for the so called further diagnostics.
To me it seems that the problem is a mechanical problem in the gearbox and nothing to do with the software.
Here is the thing; on driving back home, it drove as if I had lost the Eco boost and the twin turbo. I felt like I was hauling a 2.5 ton truck with an under powered engine.
Perhaps, they remapped the ECU or put in a software up grade issued by Ford to comply with European emissions standards and disguised it as a recently issued trailer control software upgrade. I don't tow a trailer!
We buy these trucks because of their claimed Ford performance and mine is so bad now that I now feel that this is not the truck I bought. I am going to ask the dealer to re-instate the ECU as it should be from the factory.
Can anyone enlighten me as to why they would need to remap the ECU in an attempt to fix a gearbox issue? Also, can dealer remapping be reversed?
